I'm posting this 'cuz I like it

https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2020/02/nfl-mock-draft-2020-2-rounds-buffalo-bills-go-edge-rusher-receiver-in-pre-combine-mock.html

I claim no knowledge of how likely, best player, etc etc

The thing I don't get is the notion of cutting Trent Murphy to save $8M.  Why not hang on to him and keep a proven decent player and worry about cuts only AFTER we have proven players to replace him?

The Trent Murphy cut just makes absolutely no sense. There’s almost no chance that it makes your team better this year.

Yeah, it's really nuts to me.  We have so much cap that people are proposing we tag Jordan Phillips 'cuz who cares, plenty of cap.  Then other folks turn around and propose cutting known useful players who are still under contract.

The Murphy hate is ridiculous and unfounded. He's a good player just not elite , so yeah lets cut him because i want him to be a HOFer  and hes not , so there ?.

I am on the fence about him.

He really has some hideous plays in terms of run defense.

It'll be interesting to see what the Bills do about Murphy. They may just leave him alone and he remains part of the edge rotation.

I wanna see what the Bengals do about Dunlap.

If the Bengals release Dunlap like a lot of people think they will.......................

I would cut Murphy in a second and sign Dunlap.

Fixed that.

Anyway, since this thread has been morphed into a "cut Murphy??" discussion,  let's get back to HBF's topic----This kid Chaisson would be a solid pick.

Personally, if Buffalo goes DE in round 1, I think the receiver I might target in round 2 is Denzel Mims.  Mims needs to be coached up on his route running, but I think he has more talent and upside.

Not after next week, unfortunately.  He’s very likely going to blow up the combine and go even higher than expected.  But it would be a huge get if it fell that way.   The Pats getting Viska hurts though.

You are right. Make the cuts after you have gathered your 90 guys, through FA and draft, and preseason is all but over, and you have chosen your starters/ rotation guys, and depth players, then you do your trades and cuts.

Go Bills!!!

I like Mims. I’m not sure he’s a 2nd rounder though. I think he’ll go in the 3rd barring a dominant combine. Kind of reminds me of Davante Adams with concentration lapses and poor routes.

I stopped reading after he had Chaisson going to us at 22.  Like the guy but A. Find it very hard to imagine he gets to 22.  B. Think he fits a 3-4 scheme.much better.

Not sure if he had Aiyuk to us in the 2nd but not a.big fan of his if guys like Reagor or Higgins are still available.

I don’t know much about any of the college players but watching that highlight reel just reminds me of how much we desperately need speed at the DE position. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bills will take a speed DE in the first rd, maybe even moving up to get one. All we have as of now for speed is an aging Jerry Hughes. An addition here at this position doesn’t necessarily mean a subtraction either. I would like to see the Bills retain Lawson, Hughes, Phillips and even Murphy because they all fulfill a purpose. I would like to see the Bills add a quality LB or 2 as well, either in the draft or via Free agency. Not that the Bills should just stand pat on our secondary but that is a position group that we sit pretty solid at, especially if we retain Kevin Johnson.

Offensively, especially in the draft, the Bills can address their needs in rounds 2-5. Some of the best WRs are found there and the RB position has been so devalued in the last several years that adding one as a compliment to Singletary would be easy to do, if that’s what the Bills deem to do. FAs and/or trade could fulfill that need (RB) as well. As unpopular as it may be I also believe that the QB position should be address as well, either by trade or FA. I love Josh Allen and do believe in him but by no means should the Bills just totally rely on him. Nothing against Barkley but a GOOD veteran QB should be on the menu. God forbid if something were to happen to Allen I don’t believe Barkley could take this team where we want them to go. At one point I mentioned Andy Dalton but it doesn’t necessarily has to be him but someone of his abilities would work as well. An incumbent QB like Marcus Mariotta or possibly even Alex Smith could be the upgrade over Barkley imo.

I just cringed reading the title with that "rawwwr." Reminds me of the ending to those lame Buffalo Wild Wings commercials. Other than that, 100% agreed!

I say we move him from DE to OLB where he will simply be too slow and exposed in coverage.  Then we can really hate his guts.  Maybe give him a couple of early extensions for collecting all his merit badges or just being a nice guy.  Make him wear #90 and call him Chris.  Really stick it to the fans.
