MSU is in a world of hurt. Colleges typically make coaching changes early/mid December, often before they play a Bowl game. It has to be that way in order to set the recruiting schedule and rate the HSers.

Its pretty damn late for the NFL too. Nothing but scraps left to try to form a coaching staff.

Yeah, at this point, think they are better off keeping the interim guy for this coming season and hire the long term guy the end of this year.  Bills would have the same issue too if he left now.

It does seem like the best course of action to keep the interim guy and then hire someone in November. Of course, having an interim coach will just further kill their recruiting for another year. They are already coming off of the worst recruiting class of dantonio’s career. But trying to hire someone now just seems like they are working with the dregs of who is available like Bert Bieliema etc

I’m sure some of you would like to see him be re-assigned to a retail position at Macy’s.   :)

I’ll hope he and the rest of the staff can continue to develop. I don’t like change unless it’s abundantly clear it’s necessary. I’ll wait and see, with fingers crossed.

the laughing emoji is at the first part.

A solid thumbs up on the second part...…..stability is required not a perpetual churning of the roster and coaches:)

Dabol has done a decent job....occasional brain cramps in play calling, but lots of good planning imho.   After the fiasco that Dennison was, I am glad to have a pro like Daboll there.  since Josh improved so much in yr 2 under Daboll , lets see if that improvement curve can continue.  I would not mess with it were I McD......

Yeah, the Browns have had like 7 (SEVEN!) Head Coaches since 2012. Where has that gotten them? Do you think they’d like Belichick back?

They would gas him after a year like all the others ;)

This is kind of a dumb thread. Daboll is going to light it up this year with better weapons and the continued growth of Josh Allen. Same folks wanting to drive him to Michigan will be pleading for him to stay next year.

Because Daboll deserves one more year based on what he has done.  But what is more important is next off-season there is a decent possibility we fire Daboll if the offense is still sluggish and bring in Frank Reich to be OC f the Colts don't make the playoffs and he is fired.

But who replaces Daboll?  I’m open to ideas as I am not a huge fan, but no one ever says <blank> would be a better option than Daboll.  Who’s on your shirt list to replace him, Daboll critics?

"Who cares, anyone would be better!  Can't get any worse" - Bills fans who haven't paid attention for the last 20 years.

Allen likes Daboll, and was much better under his watch. That’s reason enough to keep the guy around for at least another year.

He’s not perfect, but disruptive change is worse.

I don’t see the colts firing Reich anytime soon if he gets a franchise QB and turns things around. Look how close he was when he had a banged up/bruised up Andrew Luck. Even if Reich gets fired there’s a good chance someone will give him another HC gig

College football is all about recruiting. Why anyone would think Daboll could be a good recruiter in the upper Midwest with national stretch potential for 3 star recruits outside the region is beyond me.  That's not a criticism of Daboll. There is no chance he'll get this job.

Unlike many I do not hate Daboll, but he is definitely focused on becoming a head man. Michigan St has been turned down by a lot of coaches at this point and Daboll did serve as a Graduate Assistant for them back in the 90s (colleges seem to care about that sort of thing) and has good college coaching experience.  While I do not hate him I would be mildly happy to see if the Bills could get a more innovative offensive mind to counter act McDermott (who I am very high on but he needs to be saved from her conservatism some times).

Interested in other thoughts .. though if this is considered a lame topic I am fine with it being closed :)

May this point why would any coach take that job?  National Signing day gone. Gonna have a hard time filling that job.
