In other sports, players seem to maintain speed and agility into their 30s - the average age of retirement for a soccer player 35. Track athletes are competing at older and older ages - the link is an article about how training maintains oxygen efficiency and muscle activation trained athletes achieve when young.

 

So why do NFL RB’s “fall off a cliff”?  The track athletes suggest that they can probably maintain strength, speed, and oxygen use.  The soccer players suggest they can maintain superior agility and field vision at least 5 years longer.

 

Is it just that RBs take such brutal punishment from hits?  If Wade hasn’t been taking those hits, will he have a longer “shelf life”?

I can't understand  how he's not at least a kick / punt returner next season hes amazing in the open field
