Maybe I’m a millennial but I love the relationship between Josh and Darnold. They are super close and seem like good dudes. I hope it sets up for a long term rivalry but I picture it more in the realm of LeBron vs. DWade than Yanks vs. Sox

Marino and Kelly were very close for their whole careers.

2 seasons in and their rivalry really hasn’t taken off the way it was thought.

Being such good friends, of their generation...really see it difficult for either of them to have a “killer instinct” against the other when it’s game day.

probbaly lead to a lot of Splits through out their careers.

but first they have to start actually playing each other.

4 games so far and they’ve only played in 1 where they were both “healthy”.  Technically Darnold is 2-1 but no one is counting the Week 17 game.

So 1-1 in two season.  Each having a comeback against the other.

Pick it up!

AhhahahahahahahahahahaBWAhahahahahahaha

Are you kidding me?  When it's game time, friendship won't ratchet Josh Allen's competitive instincts down a notch.  If anything, they will ratchet up.

They both play QB, they don't actually play head to head. The bills defense and the jets defense are the ones that would need the killer instinct

Allens friendship with darnold shouldn't stop his killer instinct when playing the jets defense, if it does its not a friendship issue. Its a josh allen issue

Did you ever see the Youtube clip where Josh's family was talking about how competitive he is?  Josh says his younger brother is his best friend, but according to the story Josh and family told in that clip, in a HS basketball scrimmage Josh went so hard against his bro (keep in mind this is a scrimmage, not a game) that after the scrimmage, his brother lost his s*** and punched Josh in the face.  Gave him a black eye.  Their mom was a bit freaked, their sister said "Oh, they're best friends, they'll work it out" and they did.  (Josh's dad says the younger brother was actually the better athlete, but he injured his back playing baseball in college)

I don't think we'll be seeing "failure to go hard on every down" as an issue with Josh.  Proper channeling of his competitive nature, perhaps.  Failure to take the step he needs to take, perhaps.

Failure to compete with a Killer instinct, Um, No.

Weren't Jim Kelly and Dan Marino really good friends?  That didn't seem to affect their desire to win.
