I'm looking forward to a great game. I think it will be a close one, but the 49ers will slow down the Chiefs a little and their offense will do enough to win. The 49ers offensive and defensive lines will outplay their counterparts and be the difference.

I like the 49ers to come out strong. I think the team with the better ground game and defense tends to get out of the gate better in the SB. The game will be close though and the Chiefs will put points up. This could be decided by who ever has the ball last.

.

It’s a testament to how scarred I am by that team that my rooting interest is based on what will tick that fan base off the most.

After careful study, there are some Pats fans who don’t want the Niners to match their ring total of 6, but by far the sentiment is more anti-KC (for some slight that I still don’t really understand, and because Chiefs fans are “insufferable”.  And they say that without irony).

So, go Chiefs!

...just some of my useless, senior moment observations....

1. Mahomes vs Niner Defense-who wins?

2. Niner offense vs KC defense-who wins?

3. Reid vs Shanahan-who wins?

..Mahomes versatility can truly test Niners D.......but cannot score at will.......KC defense needs to stop the run as I do not see Jimmy G s a MAJOR passing threat......Andy is unpredictable....wish I could remember the game where he had Alex marching up and down the field like Grant took Richmond in the 1st half.......only to come out in the 2nd ala Jauron ball and chalked up the "L"......no decision yet on score....still ruminating...........

I don't think you should overlook the Garappolo traded subtext.  Whether or not it's true, substantial numbers of Pats fans believe that Belicheck wanted to keep Garappolo and move on from Brady.  An undetermined number believe that the Pats might still be playing if they had done so.

Thus, should San Francisco win, the Garappolo traded subtext will emerge as a dominant them and the Pats fan base will emerge from the game even more ticked than due to some nebulous vapor of anti-KC sentiment.

I like the 49ers in this game since they are the more complete team.  The 9er defense will come after Mahomes and not give him the room to operate that Tennessee did.

If KC has a chance, they will need to send pressure up the middle since it appears Jimmy G is very susceptible to that.  I'm sure Steve Spagnolo has seen tape on that from the Cardinals and Seahawks games.  It is similar to Brady's weakness, only easier since Jimmy G isn't as skilled as Tom in getting the ball out quickly.

So the Chiefs D was a weak spot early in the season, but appeared to improve after the bye

Open question: was that due to defensive improvement (getting a player back, Suggs maybe) or due to relative impotence of the offenses they faced (Denver, Oakland, Chicago, end of season NE)?

Garappolo barely passed during the last two games, but during the season he showed he can put up a big game with his arm when he needs to (vs NO and vs AZ).  But is this a "use it or lose it" thing where lack of recent pass game will cause rust?  Or will Kittle and Samuel and someone else (Sanders?) answer the bell?

Underdiscussed factor: Garappolo has fumbled 10x this season and lost 5.  It ain't 'cuz he runs.  What's the cause, and is this something KC can exploit?

One thing about the 49ers run game...they tend to run off tackle, to the outside.  That would negate the effect of Chris Jones at DT, as he plugs up the middle.  If this holds true, it improves the 49ers chances...giving them an effective run game and keeping Mahomes off the field.

KC by double digits.

SF had ZERO sacks this year on plays where the offense used pre snap motion.  KC runs ALOT of pre snap motion.

SF also had the 32nd ranked red zone D in the league.

KC actually gave up fewer points than the miners did this year.

People talk all like this 49er D is some all time great unit.  It’s not.

Pat Mahomes.

If anyone wants to talk about the actual Championship game or the two teams involved -strengths weaknesses strategy - here's a thread for ya!

Here's hoping the Bills will be contesting for this soon (next year)!

Amen ? to that = Bills SB next year

And that’s the biggest reason why I want the 9’ers to win ....

the second reason just imagine how many treads will have about passing on Mahomes if Chiefs win ...

if the Chiefs D can shut down the Titans run game they can shut down Mostert. If Coleman plays it will be as a decoy only. I think the Chiefs win by 14

Ignore the stats.  There was a big difference in the production of the 49er front four when they were all healthy.

That’s the game....if the pass rush gets to Mahomes, SF wins.  If they don’t, KC will.

The Titans have no passing game.  Jimmy G has some weapons.
