MAJBobby Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) I would rather have Olsen on the roster as the Vet Mentor over Lee Smith or Kroft any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Let me Caveat I would still rather go get a Hooper or Henry over Olsen. But if he is willing to accept a team friendly deal I would be all over it. Edited January 30, 2020 by MAJBobby 1
Happy Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Yeah, I'd be all for dumping Kroft for Olsen. Not sure how much Olsen has left in the tank. Lee Smith is more of a blocker (that gets called for a lot of penalties) who is inexplicably sent on passing routes now and then.
YoloinOhio Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 No. He’s done and headed to do TV. He was on with cowherd today and he’s excellent. I don’t think he’s the type who is going to try to play longer on another team. Feels like he’s had one foot out the door (no pun intended) for a couple years. btw - the next shoe to drop will be Cam when new league year starts. First keuchly, now Olsen, cam is next. Complete overhaul in Carolina. 9
whatdrought Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Guys had one foot in the booth for the past 3 years... Pass. 2 1
machine gun kelly Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I loved to watch him play, but he’s 34 and probably just wants to hit the next chapter in his life. He can spend time with the kids, certainly doesn’t need the $, and hasfrom a timing perspective interests from the media.

If you don't want him sent into routes then you should put another tackle on the field. You have to keep defenses honest. 1
atlbillsfan1975 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I think he is done. His best friend Kuechly just retired. Olsen has a family he loves and I think he knows his body is breaking down. Head to the booth and have fun while making money and being around the game he loves.
NewEra Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 For sure. He’d likely get hurt but he’d be a great locker room guy McD cherishes and can help Knox and Sweeney. I wouldn’t expect a lot of production as he’ll likely get hurt
Ethan in Cleveland Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I like the idea of getting rid of Lee Smith and carrying an additional swing OT. A third pass catching TE is fine but I'd prefer Sweeney or another young player. Knox and Kroft will be a fine 1-2 combo next year.
HappyDays Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I would be all for this. I know he has injury issues but we wouldn't be relying on him to carry our offense. He obviously knows McDermott and as far as I know he's a strong locker room presence. If he still wants to play I'd take him. 1
BuffaloRebound Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Yes. 1000%. He’s still a legit target. Would be great for Josh and a bridge until Knox is ready. 1
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Love Olsen but I sincerely doubt he’d be looking to sign a team friendly (ie low dollar) deal .... he seems like a guy with options awAy from the gridiron

Lee Smith isn't a receiving TE, but rather a smaller tackle. He offers little value as a receiving TE, so could be they move on from him.
