(Let’s just hope the sheriff’s department officials who operate the checkpoints are at least wearing masks.)” Incidentally, the metatitle on that second link is Fox Butterfield-worthy: Protesters feel at risk by NYPD officers not wearing masks.

B-Man Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 On Sunday night we told you about Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean having been invited to testify at a state hearing about Gov. Cuomo’s nursing home policies — until she was uninvited. Dean called it “political theater.” But now Dean’s found out more specifics about why the New York Democrats were so nervous about her potential testimony, and it’s not incredibly surprising: 1 1

OldTimeAFLGuy Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 ...homeless at the Waldorf but Big Fredo is broke....go figure...……………. American taxpayers footing NYC's bill to house the homeless in boutique hotels Many fear that housing more than 13,000 homeless New Yorkers in single-room, deluxe hotels will 'bankrupt' the city By Hollie McKay | Fox News Since the novel coronavirus began desecrating through New York more than five months ago, Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration has been filling the city's high-priced hotels with people experiencing homelessness in a bid to ease the burden on the shelter system and to curb the spread of the pathogen – ensuring that individuals have their own room and space to socially distance. But there is a growing divide between advocates who contend it's the only practical answer – despite the exorbitant costs – and locals who fear for their own safety and worry it will fiscally break the city and spread crime. As it stands, at least 139 hotels are deemed home to people experiencing homelessness – a sharp rise from the estimated 40 hotels that were used in place of shelters prior to the outbreak of the global pandemic this year. Around 13,000 individuals are believed to be living in such hotels across some of the five boroughs, with most of them transferred from various shelters. There are approximately 700 hotels in the once-bustling New York City, and roughly 20 percent are now used as homeless shelters. "(This) will eventually bankrupt the city. With more and more people fleeing the city because of the homeless problem and defunding the police where they don't feel safe, the city will not have the funds to sustain this," Michael Fischer, a representative of the West 58th Street Coalition, which formed last year in response to growing concerns over issues surrounding the development of homeless shelters in Manhattan, told Fox News. "And the crisis is only going to get worse." https://www.foxnews.com/us/american-taxpayers-footing-new-york-citys-bill-to-house-the-homeless-in-boutique-hotels
B-Man Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Running Scared: Cuomo pulls out all stops to avoid responsibility on NY's massive COVID nursing home death count by Monica Showalter Original Article Andrew Cuomo's got a load of nerve. Imagine being one of the relatives of the thousands of elderly nursing home residents who died as a result of their residences becoming sealed incumbators for COVID, which Andrew Cuomo literally ordered. (snip) Yet here we have it, Cuomo saying he won't allow an independent investigation as to why he ordered this on March 25: “I think you’d have to be blind to think it’s not political,” he said. “Just look at where it comes from and look at the sources and look at their political affiliation.” Which is absolute rubbish -- the New York Post reports that legislators from all parties are demanding it. 1

American taxpayers footing NYC's bill to house the homeless in boutique hotels San Francisco has done this as well, and there have been some crazy stories about how these luxury hotels are being destroyed internally. The hotels don't care because the city has agreed to pay for all damages, but it's the taxpayers who will pick up that tab. Here's a microcosm of a country led by Democrats. Quote The Department of Public Health manages the controversial free alcohol, cigarette, and cannabis program for homeless people placed in the hotels. It originally claimed that money for the service came from private donations, which are not allowed by law. After multiple requests to provide the names of the donors, the DPH conceded that “No such record currently exists.” A public-records investigation into the matter has revealed that, as of June 16, DPH approved $3,795.98 to buy the homeless guests vodka and beer (cigarettes have been scrapped). The funding came from the public treasury, after all. Meanwhile chaos is erupting inside and around the hotels. City and hotel workers are required to sign nondisclosure agreements and are forbidden from discussing what they’re seeing. Per the Mayor’s Declaration of Emergency, speaking out can result in a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment with a maximum sentence of one year, or both. Nevertheless, concerned inside sources report destroyed rooms and rampant illegal drug use. In one hotel, guests are given needle kits and are advised to call the front desk before shooting up; there have been four deaths in the last few days. Sharp containers have been placed on every floor; used syringes are discarded haphazardly. Badly needed mental-health help is not being administered. The entire operation is disorganized, with staff members constantly moved around, never knowing what they’ll do from one day to the next. One source asked to make it clear that as public servants they love the city and all its inhabitants, but the plan has left them deeply demoralized. 1

B-Man Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 REPORT: NEW YORK STATE’S CORONA NURSING HOME DEATHS UNDER-COUNTED BY THOUSANDS. Per the A.P. report, the real number could be thousands higher than the “official” count. But Gov. Cuomo’s administration has refused to reveal what the number would be if NYS nursing home deaths were counted the same way as other states. The real buried lede here is that AP is finally, actually reporting this stuff: New York’s coronavirus death toll in nursing homes, already among the highest in the nation, could actually be a significant undercount. Unlike every other state with major outbreaks, New York only counts residents who died on nursing home property and not those who were transported to hospitals and died there. That statistic could add thousands to the state’s official care home death toll of just over 6,600. But so far the administration of Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has refused to divulge the number, leading to speculation the state is manipulating the figures to make it appear it is doing a better than other states and to make a tragic situation less dire. Over to you, CNN: CNN’s Chris Cuomo Claims Florida ‘Mishandled’ the COVID-19 Pandemic, Not New York. 1

But opponents have filed 4 lawsuits (2 of them with your money), so we’re not out of the woods yet. The new protections go into effect Friday if courts don’t stop them.

B-Man Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 For some bizarre reason, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo seems to be under the impression that he’s got a moral leg to stand on when it comes to the fight against COVID19. Check out this tweet he sent from his high horse: Unlike Tom Nichols, we’re not mind-readers, so we can’t say for sure whether Cuomo was actually going for a football analogy or attempting some shameless sexual innuendo (if we had to pick, we’d go with the latter, because obviously). What we do know is that no one should be taking COVID19 advice from a guy who refuses to take responsibility for facilitating the virus’ spread, not to mention the body count of thousands of elderly nursing home patients. Practice what you preach 2
