Also, was there any other events in the area during that week? I have no idea, but assume tyou are saying no other events took place in Tulsa in the days around the rally. From your article Quote Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.

Taraka Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 https://time.com/5864434/tulsa-trump-rally-coronavirus-surge/ There are no winners here. It was reckless to hold an indoor rally, discourage social distancing and the wearing of masks. I hope being outdoors prevents such an upsurge in S Dakota.

But those areas where the virus was just starting? Like texas, Florida, and Arizona and California? Maybe it helped fuel the explosion in cases Of course the protests played a significant part of the virus transmission. Anyone relying on mainstream outlets to tell them that they didn’t is a fool. It’s not a coincidence that the spread of the virus is most prevalent in the cities that had the protests, the same demographic as those that attended the virus right at the time after the virus.. there were over 25,000 BLM protests throughout the country and we are to believe that it didn’t play a role? The media thinks we’re stupid and apparently there are some dumbasses on this board that buy into it. With that said, this whole thing is wildly overblown and the level of deaths that are occurring and will most likely rise to when things are put into proper context doesn’t merit the amount of hysteria that that the media is portraying. In the county that I live in Florida with a population of over 600k, everyone is going about their lives normally. People know that they aren’t at hardly any risk at all of dying from this flu. The only difference between now and 6 months ago is that you have some shops that aren’t open that we’re open before and there are people wearing masks. I said we would bottom out at 500 deaths per day with the 7 day moving average and that is pretty much exactly what would happen. That it would start going up this week and that is what is happening. That contact tracing would never work over here the way they thought it would because the infections were way too high for that to happen and that is exactly what happened. That the IFR would be somewhere around .25% to .5% and it looks like it is much closer to .25%. This was when most people thought it was over 1%. That virus transmission was very low for children to other children and adults comparatively to adults. Deaths are going to rise over the next 4-6 weeks. Then it will head back down and make lower lows in deaths than before. I expect deaths to average 7 day moving average to go anywhere from 700-900 deaths per day 7 day moving average. And then head back lower and get down to 250-400 in September sometime. Places like New York City most likely won’t have any real re emergence of the virus, I don’t believe. I think they reached a “burnout” level of infections. Basically a herd sort of immunity. Other heavily infected areas such as Houston, Los Angeles, Miami and a few other cities will most likely reach something similar To New York. Not quite the level of New York but those cities and others will have communities that have a propensity to spread the virus more so than others that will have burnt out. I do think that this is setting us up to have a better fall than what I was fearing. Better to get this stuff out of the way now than in late fall when the common flu will come back again. 2

When asked if the cases in Tulsa are going up due to the rally on June 20, Dart said that there were several large events a little over two weeks ago. Bynum said that ordering masks for employees at bars and restaurants has helped the Tulsa Health Department with their contact tracing by showing them what the leading contributors are to cases in the Tulsa area. hmm, so in first paragraph there are indications of several events that took place in Tulsa, now 18 days ago as the article points out and incubation tone is 3-14 days. also says their contract tracers are swamped and working overtime. If Trump rally alone caused the infection, pretty damn easy to spot that no? and last paragraph states they are ordering masks at bars and restaurants as they understand leading contributors to cases rising. hmm, all that and all ya had to do was read.

But MN never had a peak before the protests and they were one of the epicenters. Seattle another one that never peaked (they got hit first but controlled it very fast). Large numbers and not in a study (the people who took the test self-selected so you'd expect them to be higher than the general pop) but interesting: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/09/nyregion/nyc-coronavirus-antibodies.html At a clinic in Corona, a working-class neighborhood in Queens, more than 68 percent of people tested positive for antibodies to the new coronavirus. At another clinic in Jackson Heights, Queens, that number was 56 percent. But at a clinic in Cobble Hill, a mostly white and wealthy neighborhood in Brooklyn, only 13 percent of people tested positive for antibodies. ... As of June 26, CityMD had administered about 314,000 antibody tests in New York City. Citywide, 26 percent of the tests came back positive. Edited July 9, 2020 by shoshin

Trump staff don't even think the protests lead to cases and then complain that when cases rose after the Trump rally, the media is to blame? Also some cute disingenuousness on the campaign providing masks (that no one wore) and no mention of them removing social distancing stickers from chairs in the Tulsa arena. Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told CNN, "There were literally no health precautions to speak of as thousands looted, rioted, and protested in the streets and the media reported that it did not lead to a rise in coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, the President's rally was 18 days ago, all attendees had their temperature checked, everyone was provided a mask, and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available for all. It's obvious that the media's concern about large gatherings begins and ends with Trump rallies." Murtaugh provided a link to CNN reporting on research suggesting that Black Lives Matter protests across the country did not lead to a jump in coronavirus cases. Edited July 9, 2020 by shoshin
