I'd hate to be in commercial real estate once this ends.  My bet is there will be a lot of vacant office space as many businesses realize the value of virtual meetings, etc.

That's an assumed fallout (change) from this. Interestingly, I was in the market for new office space as this hit and even had some leases I was reviewing.

I'm hoping to find a better deal now.

Yes. Typically rent is one of the largest monthly expenseS behind payroll.  Mine is $11k a month.  It was $20k a couple months ago and then we downsized and renegotiated.

If Trump doesn’t wear mask at Michigan auto plant, he'll be asked not to return, state official says

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is calling on President Trump to wear a mask ahead of his visit to a Ford manufacturing plant in the state today.

“If he fails to wear a mask, he's going to be asked not to return to any enclosed facility inside our state,” Nessel said. “…If we know he's coming to our state, and we know he's not going to follow the law, I think we're going to have to take action against any company or any facility that allows him inside those facilities and puts our workers at risk. We just simply can't afford it here in our state.”

I won't be a government edict.  But most companies won't rush employees back to the office if the same work can be done from home.  I know that many financial firms in NYC metro are essentially moving to work from home through the rest of the year, at least.  Most companies will give employees the option to come in or stay at home.

If a shift to working from home becomes permanent, thats going to result in a lot of people moving out of the City. Same goes for a slow reopening of restaurants, bars, nightlife. There’s less reason to stick around if the NYC lifestyle changes drastically and the cost of living doesn’t come down there.  I received a census reminder text from NYC yesterday. They need a big response now because in a year or two they may have a lower headcount.

Like everything, this will lead to unpredictable results. I’m sure many offices will reduce space.  A lot of small businesses will drop out, but there’s always another entrepreneur to take their place.  Landlords will be charging less to keep their places occupied.

But some offices will need more space to accommodate new guidelines about distancing their employees.  Gotta space out the cubicles, I guess.

You’re right about that. I only know one person that has taken the test that didn’t show any symptoms and he did it out of sheer curiosity.

Yeah. I’ll just continue to do whatever it is I’m doing that has prevented me and mine from catching this thing anyways.

On a side note I would like to see a government mandated law preventing people that can work from home from having to return to work until this matter is behind us. We should be limiting the amount of people that have to go outside as long as this is an issue. I’m all for re-opening but we should be smart about it. Why force people to return to work if they can do the same job from home? My wife and her team have been more efficient at home than they were at work and yet they’re being told to return on May 26th. That doesn’t make sense.

My wife is desperate for most of her team to go back to the office. Some of her key assistants have had their productivity cut by about 50%, mainly because of their kids. They cant focus and have to take alot of time off of work during the day just to tend to their little ones.

More on the Florida data chick - That mug shot tho

Quote

During a press conference Wednesday afternoon with Vice President Mike Pence, DeSantis went further, disputing nearly every claim Jones made in recent interviews.

“One, she is not a data scientist. She is somebody that’s got a degree in journalism, communication and geography. She is not involved in collating any data, she does not have the expertise to do that, she is not an epidemiologist, she is not the chief architect of our web portal. That is another false statement,” the governor said. “She was putting data on the portal, which the scientists didn’t believe was valid data. So, she didn’t listen to people who were her superiors, she had many people above her in the chain of command. And so then she was dismissed because of that.”

Then, DeSantis said Jones is under “active criminal charges” in Florida, which includes cyber-stalking and cyber-sexual harassment.

“I have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment,” the governor said, adding that he was asking the Department of Health to explain how she had remained employed despite the charges.

Records in the Leon County Clerk of Court website show Rebekah Jones was involved in cases matching what the governor said. In October 2017 and in June 2019, a temporary injunction for stalking was filed against her in Leon County. Those cases are closed.

Bill Gates had made it one of his goals to eradicate polio. Working with others, he had gotten it down to perhaps less than 100, but it's been rising for a while, starting because of war/strife and education vaccines not getting through to the last holdout areas.

Now it's rising more as a strange effect of the shutdown. Goes along with the rise of general diseases of neglect.

Not only are we seeing verifiable data to help support this conclusion but more and more voices backed with evidence are coming to this conclusion.

Why Is The Harris County CEO Extending Lockdown While Texas Reopens?

The goalposts continue to shift during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. At a time when every state is now in the process of reopening to one degree or another, some local officials are finding it difficult to loosen their grip, even in the freedom-loving state of Texas.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced yesterday that today she will sign an order that will extend the county’s ‘Stay Home, Work Safe’ order until June 10. The first reaction in my home upon hearing this during the late-night local news broadcast was what the what

As a reminder for those who do not live in Texas, a county judge is not necessarily an actual judge. The title of County judge is given to the county CEO. In the case of Ms. Hidalgo, she is not a lawyer. It is a nonjudicial position. Ms. Hidalgo is a 29-year-old political newbie, a ‘progressive’ Democrat (think AOC) who embraces her inner Socialist. She can thank the blue wave created by Beto O’Rourke in the 2018 election cycle for her victory.

Here’s the thing about Ms. Hidalgo’s premise – Texans are not trying to “tempt fate”, they are just easing back into reopening the state and getting some sort of life back. We know there is no cure, there is no vaccine yet. The whole reason the state has progressed to Phase Two of reopening this week is that Texans have taken the coronavirus pandemic very seriously. We have done what is expected of us. We wear masks when necessary, we social distance when we are in public, and we’ve washed our hands raw. Texans are protecting Texans and no one is complaining about that. Texans are complaining about the heavy hand of authoritarianism from leftists who do not want to see a return to life as we knew it before the coronavirus pandemic.

One reason for Hidalgo’s latest decision to reissue a stay at home order may have to do with money. Shocking, I know, for a politician to have dollar signs in her eyes. When the Harris County Commissioner’s Court met Tuesday, May 19, the commissioners voted to extend the county’s disaster declaration through June 10. It was set to expire yesterday, May 20 and it’s all about FEMA money.

Taxpayer money and the power to spend it is a hell of a drug, amirite? The Democrats on the commission (the majority) voted with Hidalgo. The commissioners will consider further extensions (!) of the emergency declaration at the next meeting, scheduled for June 9. Never let a crisis go to waste.

My family's late June annual trip to Hawaii was just cancelled by Hilton last night.  The entire State of Hawaii has had a total of 17 deaths throughout this entire 'health crisis' and they are projecting being closed down for another month.  Really?  And this is a State in which each of the islands are separated by miles and miles of open ocean.  As they say over there...."Oh Brudda"
