It falls right in line with the serological antibody studies that are taking place. I have also been doing quite a bit of reading on the influenza and it seems to have a similar pattern in that it affects people who have comorbidities and are elderly more so than the rest of the population. And that pneumonia is prevalent with both influenza and COVID 19 deaths. We know that this is highly contagious but something in it’s transmissibility makes especially acute in higher density populations. I’m very interested in learning how the spread of the virus is occurring the most. I hear conflicting things and none of them explain or make sense to me why it’s spreading so fast. I agree. We have pretty strong measures in place here as well but it’s still spreading. The head of the Quebec health sector says there should be close to 250,000 people while we only have 30,000 confirmed cases testing around 7,000 day. Im curious as well as to how this has been spreading. 2 1
ALF Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 (edited) Looking at states hardest hit I would think mass transit spreads the virus the most. Except for New Orleans with Mardi Gras and Miami spring break https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ By the beginning of March, the virus had spread to all regions of Italy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Italy Health official: US should have banned travel from Europe earlier to slow spread of coronavirus nearly 2 million travelers from Italy and other European countries entered the U.S. in February, according to a CDC article published Friday. Travel from Europe was not halted until March 11. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/495773-health-official-us-should-have-banned-travel-from-europe-earlier-to-slow Edited May 4, 2020 by ALF 1

I am doing it to protect my 93 year old mom. She survived pneumonia at the end of '18 nd I don't want to lose her to this. We got nmasks from a local tailor for $5 apiece. I keep using it. It is not dirty. People should;d keep using masks even if the prevalence in their area is low. Protect the elderly and people with weakened systems. There are people here who find the mask hot and itchy and choose to wear a transparent covering so they follow the law but have little health effect. That says nothing about the people who just wont wear it because they want to prove they can’t. So you’ll always have this and seriously best of luck to you and your mom and others at risk. I wish there was so much more we could do for the at risk population as we reopen. Pence now regrets not wearing a mask at the Mayo Clinic so maybe people will come around eventually. I applaud Pence's level leadership throughout the crisis and this admission is another example of him doing the right thing. We all make mistakes. Owning it is critical. 10 hours ago, meazza said: https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2020/04/11/why-a-study-showing-that-covid-19-is-everywhere-is-good-news @Magox I'm pretty sure this is what you've been saying for a while. Nice to see that this is being proven more and more. Let’s see if we can keep the hospitalizations low. God knows we must start to reopen. Edited May 4, 2020 by shoshin

SoCal Deek Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 As I’ve been saying for days now...watch the dialogue and you’ll follow where this is going. The anti Trump crowd is more upset about a comment he made (I honestly don’t remember it) about President Lincoln, and the backdrop setting for his interview, than they are about anything he said about Covid 19. The virus story is done! Stick a fork in it. We’re moving on to the political snarking and blame game. Good times! 2
ALF Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 China pushes back against US claims that coronavirus originated from Wuhan lab US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday in an interview with ABC that there was "enormous evidence" Covid-19 originated in a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the outbreak was first detected last December. He did not provide details to support the claim. Responding to Pompeo's comments, China's state owned Global Times newspaper said in an editorial Monday that the former CIA director had "stunned the world with groundless accusations." "Since Pompeo said his claims are supported by 'enormous evidence,' then he should present this so-called evidence to the world, and especially to the American public who he continually tries to fool," the editorial said. "The truth is that Pompeo does not have any evidence, and during Sunday's interview, he was bluffing." https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/04/asia/china-us-coronavirus-spat-intl-hnk/index.html

Because an entire segment of the media made a business decision that to survive, they had to ‘sell’ that storyline to viewers. And many, amazingly, have decided to sign up for this relentless infomercial and HATE their President day in and day out. They don’t disagree with him. They HATE him. Pretty good sales job on the part of the MSM. Didn’t think they had that kind of talent.

I think the root of this is something that the people you're arguing with would agree with. In this country intent matters. Or at least it did. Could you expand on what this 'different reason' would be?
