From the annals of Covid hIstory.

My favorite app is nugs. It has thousands of streams of live concerts. I can listen to a show from tonight tomorrow morning.  I only listen to live music so it’s awesome. Anyway I’m listening to 311 in Vegas in March 13th 2020. That’s pretty much the day everything shut down.  I’m 9 songs in and not mention of Covid.

I really wish I had kept a journal.

New mandate.

Wear a condom and a mask: Health department advises Covid “safe” sex

Wash your hands and shower before and after having sex.

Avoid kissing because the Covid-19 virus can be spread through saliva.

Refrain from doing oral sex or having anal sex as Covid-19 virus can be contaminated in feces.

Use condoms, dental dams, and rubber gloves to reduce contact with saliva or other types of secretions.

Wear masks to cover your nose and mouth during sex to prevent the spread of infection through heavy breathing.

Favor positions where you are not face-to-face while having sex to avoid contact with saliva or other secretions and spend as little time as possible (Basically, have a quickie.)

Avoid group sex or swapping sex partners.

Use disinfectants such as 70% alcohol, detergent, bleach to clean the sleeping area or the surface where sex was performed.

Condoms, disposable tampons, dental dams, and rubber gloves infected with secretions should be thrown away in a covered bin.

Oh, and @The Frankish Reich and Sunny D— just imagine the messaging that might have taken place had Barrack and Michelle Obama arranged a press conference, assembled the media and said something like this:

“We were so excited to celebrate Barrack’s 60th Birthday with our friends at our beautiful home.  We started planning for this celebration of a life well over a year ago when we were hopeful that the nation would be on the other side of this pandemic.  However, when it became apparent that the delta variant is an extremely dangerous adaptation of the virus, and when we saw the vaccination numbers stall nationally, we could not in good conscience push forward.

Together, we call on all Americans...rich and poor...tall and short....conservative, independent and liberal...to join us and get vaccinated.  To Black Americans specifically, we’re asking you to trust us on this, times have changed, we are on a brighter path—get vaccinated now.

Oh, and special shout out to Leh-nerd for reminding us all that being in a $25,000 tent, singing, dancing and partying is not the same as being outside!  You got us boy-eeee!”

Your coddling of Trump’s modeling is cute.

You missed my point on Florida. I assume it’s no different there than it will be everywhere on cases and deaths and agree with DeSantis’s approach completely. Though he could be less a dick  and more compassionate. Turns out the situation in Florida is not great Gov.

Thanks for clarifying your thoughts on Florida.  It’s good to find common ground once in a while.

hmm, ya know its tough when even the Fact Checker for the WAPO agree with Stefanik and McCarthy

There’s already discussions about a mask mandate, which is not based upon science.”

— Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), interview on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Aug. 8

“Think about what the CDC did just this week. They forced vaccinated Americans to wear a mask because of a study in India about a vaccine that’s not even in America that has not been peer-reviewed.”

— House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), remarks to reporters, July 29

“The ‘game changer’ data the CDC used for the mask mandate is from a single study from India. The study was rejected in peer review. But CDC used it anyway.”

In a public health crisis, the preprint process has been extremely effective in pushing out information quickly that is needed to help form policy,” said Monica Gandhi, professor of medicine and associate division chief for HIV, infectious diseases and global medicine at the University of California at San Francisco. “Although we in the scientific community usually like to wait for peer-review, the covid-19 pandemic is a unique situation and basing policy from preprints and non-peer reviewed studies is likely fair to do as long as the study is reviewed independently by the CDC.”

But Gandhi, a specialist on masks, thought Stefanik was onto something when she questioned whether the information cited by the CDC actually supported urging vaccinated people to wear masks.

Quote

Gandhi dismissed the India study (more on that below) and has not been impressed with the follow-up information the CDC has cited as supporting the change in policy. “If the CDC is using this reason to put back masks, they don’t have enough evidence to do so (e.g. that vaccinated are as likely to spread as unvaccinated),” Gandhi wrote in an email. She pointed to other recent studies that cast doubt on the CDC’s analysis,

Speaking only for myself, I’m going to have to devote some serious time to improving my core if I’m going to commit to Reverse-Crab-Walk-Girl-on-Top while fully masked.  They call it the widowmaker in some cultures for a reason.

I advise calling your health plan to verify coverage prior to attempting any such maneuver!

I work with a personal intimacy coach.  She’s $1,500 an hour and tells me she’s up to date on health insurance, legalities and vaccinations/shots.

But still no negative comment on Trump and his example especially on vaccines?

Only time to chat about Obama’s vaccine and testing mandatory birthday party?

That doesn’t gibe with other studies. I’d wait on more info. It especially makes little sense as between Pfizer and Moderna since their mRNA approach is pretty much identical.

I offered to provide thoughts on any Trump-related subject that was of interest to you.  I did that several days ago and didn’t hear back until now.

My comments on the somewhat obvious hypocrisy on the Obama birthday bash were specific to the birthday bash.  Your query today is overly broad in that “Trump and Vaccines” spans nearly a year and took several twists and turns, but here are my thoughts generally:

-Early on, Trump’s leadership skills were poor, and I would give him a grade of F.  He was all over the page on describing what we were facing as a nation, he allowed himself to be victimized by his political opponents and at the end of the day, he was THE guy responsible for shaping the National  response.  His voice as not loud enough, not clear enough and as a result it was chaotic.

As the crisis played out, he did better, organized an exceptional government response to working with key players in the industry responsible for developing and implementing a response.  I would give him an A for his performance there, especially in light of the hyper-politicization of virus management by dem political operatives working to sow seeds of chaos, mistrust in the science/vaccine development.

I think on the political side, he missed opportunities to point out the disconnect between what D operatives were saying (COVID is a threat to our survival!) and their actions in support of mass gatherings that were clearly superspreader events, at least in context at the time, which certainly lead to a substantial increase in transmission and death.

I think Trump’s teeing up the vaxxs gave Biden a substantial leg up in the fight against COVID, allowed for what should have been a slam dunk across the board, and Biden fumbled it quite badly.  Trump gets an A+ here, Biden an F for allowing his sycophants to encourage distrust of the vaxx is Trump was Prez v Biden in office.  He has been very weak in that regard.

Just Like After 9/11’: New Zealand to Close Borders for the Rest of the Year

New Zealand is closing its borders for the remainder of the year, continuing the country’s embrace of a total isolationist strategy in its fight against the coronavirus.

On Thursday, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the country’s borders “will never be the same after” the pandemic, likening the situation to the 9/11 attacks.

According to Ardern, vaccinated travelers from low-risk countries would be allowed to enter the country in early 2022. Since the start of the pandemic, New Zealand adopted a strict border protection policy, which resulted in only 26 coronavirus-related deaths.

“If we give up our elimination approach too soon there is no going back, and we could see significant breakouts here like some countries overseas are experiencing who have opened up early in their vaccination rollout,” said Ardern.

Your backbends to defend Trump and his vaccine example and whataboutism are remarkable. You can drop the veneer of objective thought you purport to have.

Trump as president and immediate ex president should have been and continue to promote the vaccine. He should have gotten the shot on TV. He should be talking it up. Simple.

Bracing for more comments about Obama, Biden, and the media.

Keep protesting nicely NZ and Australia.  Don't get too rowdy.  The army would appreciate you wrap up your organized shouting by 5pm, a few hours before curfew.
