Almost 10% of the US population has had 1 dose and 3% 2 doses. 39 million doses administered so far. That’s no joke with the new daily average doses administered at 1.5M/day. The J&J approval won’t speed that up right away but by summer, that rate could be as high as 3M/day, right about the time we don't need this vaccine anymore.

Seems like the fatality numbers would be dropping like a stone if the vaccines are given solely to the elderly. On the sheer math of it, those over 70 (the vulnerable population) can’t possibly be more than 10% of the country...no?

54 million Americans over 65. 

 

Hospitalizations are dropping like a stone. Fatalities are following but as always, deaths are the tail of cases and hospitalizations.

The last time the death 7-day average was below 3000 was Jan. 7. The last time we had 7-day average cases this low was November 7. The last time we had hospitals at this level was November 18. 

 

I won't speculate on the cause but it's hard not to think the vaccine isn't having a big impact.

It's my understanding that there was no specific scientific assumption that could ever, ever, ever be drawn tying transmission to specific behavior at specific events (not involving motorcycles, political parties represented by elephants, religious worship or Great-Grandma's legendary home cooked Thanksgiving ShooFly Pie) clearly and obviously ignoring both mask and social distancing guidelines that would lead any reasonable person to conclude that participation in such events posed any sort of risk of transmission.  As such, it's best to remain silent on such matters. 

 

Admittedly it's a mystery--this levitation/hover phenomenon and how the people in the mass gathering instantaneously and miraculously appear having no record of travel/food consumption/rest room use/or other specifically defined high-risk interpersonal human contact, but if science can't science it I have to assume it is so.  

 

Plus, if everyone else double-masks, it seems logical that it would offset any non-masked harm that might occur, like a John Kerryesque carbon offset.

When you start to see this the way I look at it you'll understand.  So I'm going to try as best I can to explain why we are in serious danger.......this is it summarized:

 

 

 

The virus is never going away.  Ever.  Endemic.  So something to always be scared of.  

 

Team Karen exists and is also never going away (see the tweet I posted above---proof of Team Karen).

 

Since virus is never going away....will mutate....and be scary.....Team Karen is going to demand that action be taken to keep them safe.

 

Team Karen is a core constituent of the Democrat Party.  They will demand that the Democrats DO SOMETHING to always keep them forever safe.  Even if it means "new normal" because they are demented.  They put their 2 year olds in masks.  We're training the next generation of Karens as we speak.  It's been that long.  

 

So the evil people in power (all of them) are being told by....let's say Team Karen is about 40% plus of America......to keep them safe; and that means willingly giving powers we have watched them exert for almost ONE FULL YEAR.  With no "end game" (the biggest red flag).  

 

The rest of the country is going along because we'll I'm getting PPP, I can totally keep working from home this is awesome, and oh we get paid $2000 every so often.  Cool!  And unemployment more then my crap job?  Yes please.  These can become permanent fixtures bc the mob + politicians pleasing the mob is why this goes on.  

 

Worse, those among the rest of the country trying to call this path out as unsustainable and must stop now, are silenced from the public square and are guilted into going along with it because you're just a maskhole if you don't.  

 

 

 

In other words Doc.  You're looking at the virus and saying essentially this should end.  It's a virus we're vaccinating now!  No.  Not going to work like that.  

 

When you look at how the public eagerly and willingly has ceded rights to power without even questioning anything...the media won't either....this goes on and on and on.  The changes will be permanent and life never gets back to normal.  

 

Kids in 9th grade right now are looking at never dancing with a girl at Homecoming.  Not socializing as normal.  Getting a 5th rate education.  Parents are missing out on seeing what they've waited for years to see---their kids perform in high school in choir or band or athletics or basically anything.  

 

One year of that is gone.  Year 2 is coming and it's going to be the same.  

 

You have no clue how wrong I want to be.  So wrong. 

 

Unfortunately I know exactly what has and will continue to happen because we (too many of us) decided its up to government and their massive corporation buddies to lead us through this.

i think you underestimate the pendulum. this country has routinley swung to the right and left. to much time in one direction sends it back in the other direction..case in point 8 years obama..then trump.

 

if trump was more diplomatic and did not lean so far into the radicals side and republicans were less cowards to take on the true evident threats. ex section 230, fighting voting changes..which many of them passed.gutless. he def would have won.

But I'm specifically talking about being in a place this country has NEVER been in before.  

 

The focus needs to be on how the ceding of our rights to government and big corporations in bed with them, because the masses are scared, this dynamic can lead to things no one has either taken seriously or can't even imagine.  

 

What gives me hope is States like South Dakota, Florida, Wyoming, Iowa saying enough is enough.  These states are run by good people that value freedom as much as anything and have maintained perspective during the pandemic.

 

As incredibly frustrating as it was for me to watch Trump do literally nothing but tweet about liberating States, I understand why.  If he broke Federalism and the Constitution usurping powers he does not have (but he was a dictator...my God people are stupid) then the equivalent of the expansion of war powers of the Executive would have happened on the domestic front and Federalism thus the Republic would have collapsed.  Everything would be a public health crisis.   And powers continue to expand for the Executive.  

 

And since there are people out there good with this, because they know it's good for the party of control, this may very well be the end of freedoms as you knew them. 

 

That's what's on the line.  And it happened the minute 15 days became 30 with no end game or communication to the people about what they want to see for the highly politicized CDC to declare your distanced living can stop.

 

None of it will as long as there are politicians and corporations benefitting from this.

yeah i agree. im fighting it on this very message board. its hard to not come off as crazy with all the lies being told in unison but like you said their are still states fighting for freedom. noone even cares that riots are still happening nightly in portland but guess what.

 

people are fleeing those places to the places you describe. people are tuning out the superbowl as they include more social justice then entertainment...low ratings. people are watching the cdc flipflop on thier rulings and news organizations describe everything as racist sexist ect ect. courts are now beginning to step in to defend the constitution..very slowly. newsomes recall is almost 1.5 million. the medias announcement of wall street bets being "radicals" or "russians" was laughed out of the room.

The "Karen's" you cite are about 5% of the population at most.  You'll always have societal leaches but most people want to work.  The stimulus checks are generous (and necessary to keep our economy afloat) but not permanent.

 

How am I nearly positive at the very latest a year from now life will be back to as close as normal as pre pandemic?  Schools and businesses fully open.  No masks.  People won't stand for it and politicians bend to the will of the people.  It's that simple.  People hate wearing masks.  Younger people hate not being to be going out to the wee hours of the morning on the weekend.  Religious people get a lot more out of in person worship than telewhatever.  People miss being able to go to large parties and see their extended family.  Post pandemic habits will be slower to change.  It sucks right now but it will eventually get better.
