"The research was not conducted by Dr. Sebastianelli or Penn State. Dr. Sebastianelli wishes to clarify this point, and apologize for any confusion. "Additionally, some have inferred his comments may have related directly to Penn State student athletes. At this time, there have been no cases of myocarditis in COVID-19 positive student-athletes at Penn State." 0 cases at Penn State - but the good doc from Penn State thought it wise to push for Big 10 to cancel all sports par for the course- 1. make up bogus info 2. media to push agenda 3. stupid policy decisions imposed 4. bogus info debunked 5. crickets This is my biggest beef with the coverage of the crisis. There has been zero follow up on the initial frightening stories that the press ran with, especially when the original premise turned out not to be as scary as initially reported. It's not only incompetent, it's deadly, because it helps form bad public policy that results in more deaths over the long term. 3

An equally annoying aspect of the coverage is that if you even ask for clarifications or seeing the underlying studies you are "anti-science." Would this walk back have ever occurred had the Big 11 not been shamed into finally starting their season?

I remember the earliest reports had the virus living on metal surfaces for "up to a month." Anyone who believes anything the media says about anything is a fool. 2

Anyone who does this you can immediately dismiss as not knowing the first thing about scientific inquiry. This is one of the foundational principles of science...question everything!! Question your own data and question everyone else as well. When we eventually get back to having scientific conferences again anyone can go see this for themselves by meandering through the talks and poster sessions. Everyone is getting grilled and having to defend their data, results and conclusions. It is expected and encouraged. Sometimes things actually get heated among the nerdy scientists, but that's what science is all about. Edited September 18, 2020 by BillsFanNC 1

Masks were delivered through a similar effort. HHS has distributed 600 million masks to in need areas of the country and many more to schools last month. "An HHS spokesperson said roughly 600 million of the total 650 million masks have been delivered under Project America Strong as “part of a multi-prong approach to re-opening the American economy while limiting the spread of COVID-19.” A spokesman for the Postal Service did not respond to a message seeking comment. “There was concern from some in the White House Domestic Policy Council and the office of the vice president that households receiving masks might create concern or panic,” one administration official told The Washington Post about the proposal. Instead, the initiative, announced by the Trump administration under the “Project: America Strong,” was a more targeted program to send face masks to critical infrastructure sectors, companies and health care, community and religious organizations. The program is no longer accepting new requests for face masks, according to its website, and instead encourages applicants to purchase face masks elsewhere or make their own. President Donald Trump said on Aug. 12 that the government would also send 120 million face masks to schools ahead of the fall." https://wfin.com/abc-politics/postal-services-plan-to-send-masks-to-americans-allegedly-nixed-by-white-house/ 1

shoshin Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 (edited) https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/16/dementia-deaths-coronavirus-nursing-homes-416530 Deaths attributed to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia rose to more than 20 percent above normal over the summer, a staggering figure that won’t factor into the official count of coronavirus deaths but is unmistakably linked to the pandemic’s true toll. Increased isolation and stress during lockdown, lapses in nursing home care and missed Covid-19 diagnoses are all likely contributing factors to the unusually high dementia death toll, adding to the devastation the virus has brought to U.S. nursing homes. WEATHER DOT COM Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Virus typically clings to droplets that are too large to pass through a mask. Virus itself is rarely airborne without being attached to droplets of some sort (Sweat, water, spit, mucus, etc).

BS on your "factual" stmt that virus 1. is not airborne 2. mostly attached to droplets link the science
