When you read the whole article, and not just 2 sentences, what does it say? You did read the whole thing right? You love them and think they work so why does this bother you? Shouldn't your reaction be "awesome! We need to be like them!' Anyway.... Google is your friend: Face masks could be required on public transport and at busy indoor venues in Australia to curb the spread of Covid-19 for years to come even after everyone is vaccinated, some experts claim. Infectious disease specialists said on Sunday that the jab is the key to keeping the virus under control once the nation opens its borders to countries with vastly different health strategies But they also said Covid-19 will be in the community for years, and face coverings will still be required to to keep potential outbreaks at bay University of Melbourne epidemiologist Tony Blakely told the Herald Sun vaccination alone may not be enough to containing infections. 'We won't be throwing away masks, we will still be wearing them on public transport, for example,' he said. 'We will be wearing them indoors when there is a community outbreak.' Similarly, Burnet Institute director Brendan Crabb said the virus wasn't about to disappear and that Australians have to prepare for tightened measures to reduce the chance of widespread illness and more deaths. 'It won't just be vaccines for the next few years or so. The more that we all buy into that – governments and individuals – then the earlier we can open,' he said. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9753487/Claims-Australians-wear-masks-YEARS-vaccinated.html Edited July 4, 2021 by Big Blitz 1
Big Blitz Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Fauci now says some fully-vaccinated people SHOULD wear masks Dr Anthony Fauci flip-flopped on the issue of mask-wearing yet again on Sunday when he said that fully-vaccinated people living in areas with low vaccination rates should 'go the extra step' and cover their face. 'You have a broad recommendation for the country as a whole that, if you are vaccinated, you have a high degree of protection so you need not wear a mask indoor or outdoor,' Fauci said Friday. 'But (so disregard everything i just told you) also as it’s been said and as the CDC has recommended, there’s a degree of flexibility. People at the local level, depending on the on-ground situation, will make recommendations or not according to the local situation.'*** https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9755187/Fauci-says-fully-vaccinated-people-wear-masks-areas-low-shot-rates.html ***

I wouldn’t travel to or spend money in a red state right now. Common sense.

This is too dumb for PPP.
oldmanfan Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Darwinism is now going to come to the forefront. The data is clear now: those that are unvaccinated are the ones that get infected at this point. So just open everything back up. Of course that means that some ignorant people that refuse to accept things like data and fact are going to either die or have long lasting illness. And it also means some little kids will likely die because of the stupidity of their loved ones. Bur Ron White is correct: you can't fix stupid. All because a national health crisis got turned into a political football. Hope those that supported such nonsense are happy. 2
Big Blitz Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 (edited) There it is. All about that "collective." SoCiAliSm COVID-19: The Delta variant is now spreading uncontrollably among the unvaccinated. The PM is taking a gamble Boris Johnson's "big bang" approach to reopening and of shifting responsibility for managing the virus on to the individual rather than the collective is at odds with some of the scientific advice. Our lives have been governed by rules, restrictions and limits on our freedoms over the past 16 months as the government tried to deal with the worst pandemic we've seen in a century. But in two weeks' time, the rules will be gone, even if the virus is still going strong (lolol team eradication lol) Boris Johnson announced yesterday that he would lift all rules, except the requirement to self-isolate if you have COVID-19 or are tracked and traced by the NHS. https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-ministers-step-out-of-our-lives-but-the-big-unknown-is-whether-they-will-have-to-step-back-in-12349579 Lol the rules Edited July 6, 2021 by Big Blitz
Sundancer Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Why is the UK so different right now? I don't have an answer. Just strange.

Just strange. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274 Those are the latest government figures for the UK. Johnson etc. are taking a gamble, and it's based off of a couple of things. Firstly that the link between deaths and hospitalizations is in the process of being highly reduced by vaccinations, and also, that those who are getting infected with the latest variant, are very largely, the unvaccinated. In essense, between a high percentage of people being fully vaccinated, and the increase in those who are getting covid being the unvaccinated, I believe they are thinking that we might get to some form of herd immunity, within the next month or so. The big gamble is that hospitalizations and deaths, don't increase suddenly, because the Health Service is unlikely to be able to cope. The reason why the UK has so many cases now, is the result of the arrival of the delta variant, just as we entered an easing of restrictions, and any track and trace systems we use, are hopeless. On the one hand, it can be said that what's occurring now is the end result of simple bad timing, on the other, the useless track and trace and quarantine rules (for entering the country) haven't done anything to mitigate the spread. Currently, the 'way forward' is simply to get as many people as possible, vaccinated, and that is about the only method we have that can now be successful, i.e. herd immunity.

The Delta variant is the predominant variant in the UK for sure, but why are the other countries in the EU (see the chart) seeing no rise. They have the Delta variant too. And so does the US. Are we all just behind the UK? I don't have those answers (and neither do you). I just find it curious and wonder why more credible people aren't talking about this oddity. Put it another way: Is what's happening in the UK coming to the US, or will we be more like continental Europe. I agree with Johnson's tactic. The people who don't want the vaccine in the UK made their bed. Now some will die in it. And yes it will take out some immuno-compromised, maybe give some kids long term problems or even kill a few. But those are the eggs you break to get society back to functional.
