aristocrat Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 hope the coaches take advantage of this as well and control emotions and be more analtyical in the games. they seemed to do that in the beginning of the year but later on went away from it.

B-Man Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Is he going to talk with Ed Oliver ? Just kidding.

I think I read that he had some difficulty in comprehension or whatever. I remember reading about that the week before the 2014 season opener. It was an article about how hard the guy works but also some of the stuff he's had to overcome. I remember seeing the part about his issues in school and thinking like, maybe that was why he had such a difficult time reading defenses.

I think it is a terrible idea. You are bringing non-locker room culture people into a locker room and it spells disaster in my opinion. We are a forward thinking organization in some ways, but with the Mariners, their doctor of performance starting undermining what the trainers and coaches were doing and then sued the team for discrimination. It is a very strange story. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/lorena-martin-sues-mariners-says-she-complained-to-owner-john-stanton-ceo-kevin-mather-about-discrimination/ https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/in-court-documents-mariners-allege-that-lorena-martin-was-dishonest-and-misrepresented-herself/ Not saying this is going to happen here, but bringing "specialists" from the free world into the old boys club doesn't always work out. She could have dealt with worse in that locker room... 1
Formerly Allan in MD Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Allen doesn't necessarily need therapy. He needs to learn and understand how to protect the ball. Tapes of other successful quarterbacks are a must followed by a significant amount of him running and being harassed by teammates attempting to strip the ball, and by him attempting to pass while under pressure from teammates. He doesn't have to be tackled and potentially injured. If none of that works, then you go to therapy to determine why it doesn't.

The job description does't read like the Bills are looking for a therapist to sit around with players and talk about their childhood feelings. The idea behind cognitive neuropsychology is that there are scientifically proven ways to increase mental processing speed. That's why the job posting is requiring bio and Neuro feedback. There are really cool mind controlled video games that use spatial / information processing to sharpen mental processing. Also, all great players need to perfect their visualization skills, qb's most of all. A really good sports psychologist can help a player increase their mental processing speed, visualize their keys, footwork, technique ect. and help them come up with routines to shake off bad plays and get their head back in the game.
