Nice guy, but he could be counted on for some double faults late in a set in a tight situation. I’m sure the Bills can afford better. I think that Simon Baker would be phenomenal... Lurker Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Josh just needs to be more like Aaron Rogers. Let him go in the blue tent a few times per game and have a good scotch and he'll be much more relaxed...

Jerome007 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 It's a good idea... but I'm sure they had one already. And seriously, this team has been mentally tough. Great chemistry and team bonds. Even the locker room interviews you could just sense they are simply winners, on a high level. Of course any and all edge are welcome. But it's not been a weakness IMO

Seems like a random reference but I remember hearing he had one. That would make sense because EJ struggled quite a bit with confidence. It’s a shame because he never should’ve been in the position he was in
transplantbillsfan Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Good idea considering how many young guys we have at critical positions!
Estro Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 This is great news. I commented several times this season it seems Josh Allen has a serious mental nerves/jittery problem. I think sometimes he just totally psyches himself out to the point of it debilitating his play. Hopefully someone highly trained in this field can get him to fix the issue.

I see an alpha guy who has great physical gifts and, because of that combination, believes he can always make something happen. I don't think nerves are a major issue with him; I think discernment is his biggest issue. 1
machine gun kelly Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 This is an excellent idea and can only help for those who need it.
WizdomCalling Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 @The Wiz I wish they'd make a remake with the Bills and Patriots lol.
Coach Tuesday Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I’ve been suggesting this all season - Allen gets too amped up for big games and starts the game all jittery, he glitches. Houston was the first time I saw it later in the game (he usually settles down once he gets into the game flow). Beane sort of confirmed the issue during the postgame PC. No promise that this fixes the issue but it can’t hurt to try.
Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Hopefully this can help the Bills overcome the pressure of playing at home. I'm very encouraged by this.
MAJBobby Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Very smart especially when you have out there in public now at least two players have been in their heads. Hauschka and Allen (with his jitters early in games)
MrEpsYtown Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 (edited) I am typically a pretty positive poster, but... The Seattle Mariners tried this. It ended with a lawsuit. I think it is a terrible idea. You are bringing non-locker room culture people into a locker room and it spells disaster in my opinion. We are a forward thinking organization in some ways, but with the Mariners, their doctor of performance starting undermining what the trainers and coaches were doing and then sued the team for discrimination. It is a very strange story. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/lorena-martin-sues-mariners-says-she-complained-to-owner-john-stanton-ceo-kevin-mather-about-discrimination/ https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/in-court-documents-mariners-allege-that-lorena-martin-was-dishonest-and-misrepresented-herself/ Not saying this is going to happen here, but bringing "specialists" from the free world into the old boys club doesn't always work out. Works pretty well at Ohio state. I don’t think the above issue is as much a result of having a mental health professional available, as it is them not being aligned with the organization on player treatment. 1
