@JÂy RÛßeÒ

RIP to a phenomenal drummer and person.  This man endured so much pain and suffering.  I hope he is at peace and with his family.

Glad I got to see Rush when I had the chance.

At least Neil lived to see the band get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Although I'm guessing it didn't matter much to him - he wasn't into the whole fame thing.)

  Born and raised just across the Niagara River in St Catherine's, ONT.  Pretty modest background plus humble who worked at a farm implement dealership before fame came calling.  Most rock stars I would not give two cents for but the guy seemed like a high quality person.

He died Tuesday, and they kept it secret until today?  That is the most Peart-ish thing imaginable.

There's a video out there that's just the overhead view of his drumming live in "Subdivisions."  It's unbelievable.  I think I commented that the only reason he could do what he does is because no one told him it was impossible.

Buddy Rich was better...but I'm still a much bigger Peart fan.

Band statement..

It is with broken hearts and the deepest sadness that we must share the terrible news that on Tuesday our friend, soul brother and band mate of over 45 years, Neil, has lost his incredibly brave three and a half year battle with brain cancer (Glioblastoma). We ask that friends, fans, and media alike understandably respect the family’s need for privacy and peace at this extremely painful and difficult time. Those wishing to express their condolences can choose a cancer research group or charity of their choice and make a donation in Neil Peart's name.

Rest in peace brother.

Brought my son to see them in Montreal during the R:40 tour (their last).  My son is a guitarist and bassist; I told him I wanted him to see two of the best while it was still possible.  So glad we did.  It was a great show.

I'm embarrassed to admit that this hit me harder than the loss of a few family members. As much as he may have been uncomfortable with it, the dude left a mark on a lot of people.
