kbarrettb Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Josh Allen w 52% passing and being absolutely atrocious with running backwards and getting sacked on a 4th down play was just awful. Josh Allen needs to be 1000% better next year that was unacceptable play from a “franchise” “qb”. It’s laughable anyone thinks he’s anywhere close to being at Watson’s level.

If you go back and look over what has won games on offense for the Bills the latter half of this season. Its when they have a balanced offensive attack or run more often and pass less. That Steelers game, Buffalo 38 rushes, 25 passes =win! That Cowboys game, Buffalo 34 rushes, 25 passes = win! That Denver game, Buffalo 47 rushes, 25 passes = win! That Redskins game, Buffalo 39 rushes, 20 passes =win! Conversely, That Cleveland Game, Buffalo 20 rushes, 41 passes = loss That Baltimore game, Buffalo 23 rushes, 49 passes=loss That New England game, Buffalo 23 rushes, 26 passes=loss That Texans game, Buffalo 30 rushes, 48 passes=loss Josh Allen had 9 carries for 92 yards a 10.2 YPC avg and 1 receiving TD. Notice the trend here when Buffalo runs the ball more then they throw it, they win! When they pass more it puts more pressure on that young QB to carry the game and they lose. Either this Bills OC doesn't know how to make the run game work so he forces the young, inexperienced QB carry the offense. Or he is attempting to show the world how great an offensive mind he is by forcing the pass game work no matter what. The offensive pass protections break down and the OC has no answer. the receivers have difficulty getting open and the Bills OC has no answer. Lot of Bills fans want to pile on the QB and yet he simply doesn't have enough playing experience to throw 48 times in a playoff game. In other words, when we rely on Josh Allen to make plays and be the focal point on offense, we lose.

It is baffling right? Devin was getting what, 4.8 a clip? In OT in the playoffs time does not matter but the dumb Dabs called it like we were pressed. The recipe was simple, run the ball with a few passes mixed in and most likely we win the game. On a side bar- Josh has to learn how to sell play action and also hand the ball off. How many times is he running forward while handing it off? It is sooooo bizarre and impedes our RB. Stick the ball in his bread basket and let him do his thing. 1

When he's asked to do too much he falters. He is always the focal point He did account for 90% of the Bills tds this year. Daboll put him in way too many bad situations. OT and Singeltary is not involved. 5wr sets with Gore and Dimarco? Even stupid Bill O'Brien didnt put Watson out there in shotgun empty on every snap He knew clock was no factor and involved Duke Johnson to help his qb get the ball out if Hopkins was covered. 2

Its not just on Allen as Barkley has looked bad in Brian Daboll's overly complicated passing offense too. In fact, every offense this man has been in charge of the passing offense is in the 20's or 30's regardless of who the QB is... The NE Patriots had the #1 defense and #2 against the pass. #1 in TD passes allowed and #1 in INTs. So what did Tennessee do to beat them? 40 rushes-16 passes. Yea, Tannehill was 9 of 16 for 76 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Meanwhile, RB Derrick Henry 34 rushes for 182 yards, 1 TD. IN NEW ENGLAND!

I wouldn't care if they let Daboll go. I don't trust McDermott at all with this offense going forward. He's got no clue. He absolutely has no clue how an offense works.
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 In overtime he actually called a perfect play. A little too perfect for our players to execute apparently. The QB sweep on first down. I actually jumped out of my seat as soon as the ball was snapped because it immediately looked like a great play. We had the Texans beat from the snap. Josh had not one but two lead blockers. Only needed to block one guy. Both Knox and the o-lineman (don't remember who) must have figured the other guy would make the block. Instead of picking up at minimum 7 yards on the play if not a first down, Allen gets crushed and only gains one yard. A good example of players needing to execute the play calls.

We didn't play New England. We played the Houston Texans, who are near the bottom of the NFL in every defensive category, and we failed to score 20 points yet again. Our QB took another terrible grounding penalty on the cusp of field goal range, and his fumble was critical in giving the Texans comeback life. As I said last night, switch the QBs, and with Watson on our team we win a laugher by 30+ points.

Give him credit for building our D, but he had plenty of chances to step in over the course of the season when Daboll was failing and right the ship.......he didn't. At the end of the day, Daboll is an OC, not the HC........the HC shoulders the load........right or wrong, it's HIS team and HIS responsibility to keep things rolling smooth or iron out the wrinkles. You know you're right. This loss is on McD! If he blames the QB for trying to do too much while allowing the OC call 48 passes a game. They both should be fired. Make Leslie Frazier the HC and promote Ken Dorsey to OC or hire Pat Schumer to OC. Watching the Titans do to the Patriots what I had been hoping the Bills would do to them leaves me asking why could the Bills do this?

Now its 52.9%. Daboll and his craptastic scheme did that to him. Josh Allen was the hero after the first half 13-0 and suddenly the Bills forgot how to run the ball in the second half. Frank Gore went 8 for 22 yards a 2.5 avg.with a 14 yard run, take away that 14 yard run and 7 times he ran for 1 yard! Totally stupid to lose that way and it falls on the coaches. The Texans asked Watson to throw only 25 times while running it 33 times. Reverse that with Buffalo and the Bills win!

Calling Allen the hero of the first half is crazy. 7 of our points came on a drive dominated by trick plays called by the Offensive Coordinator you're ragging on. Otherwise we did very little offensively. With Allen it's always someone else's fault. When he plays poorly, someone else always seems to get the blame for Allen's struggles as a passer against competent competition. The Texans pass D is horrible and Allen couldn't perform. Our QB posted another rating below 70 against a team that's allowed an average rating of 97.6 this season (25th in the NFL).

Watching the Titans do to the Patriots what I had been hoping the Bills would do to them leaves me asking why could the Bills do this? ...water over the 2019 dam and too late for blame game, but here are some "senior moment" observations..... 1. Certainly cannot deny McDermott's defensive background is clearly evident in the offensive philosophy. I'm choking on "play fearless while I coach fearful". Focusing on <20 points will never get it done period. 2. Daboll is woefully inconsistent and I'm not buying, "well it's the personnel stupid". It's too convenient. Good coaches coach to their personnel's strengths. He is too quick to abandon what is working and is woefully inept to readjust (for some here, "Brian, Jimmy Haslam is on line one" is the answer). 3. Frazier is a DC and I don't foresee him as HC material (some make the transition and others revert back to their roots as Frazier did). Several times he should the ability to adjust after a slow start. Other times, we did not. Certainly of late there were missed tackles woes, but that is more player discipline. They get paid a helluva lot of money to blow tackles at this late date. 4. McBeane has $90+ mil and numerous picks at his disposal. If he focuses on the offense and brings in a bevy of talent upgrades, while we continue to wallow in the "<20 points is a winning formula", what's next? ON PAPER, the 2020 schedule looks far more difficult (on paper because we have no idea how opposition rosters will change). If it does turn out to be more difficult, any confidence here that "<20 coach fearful ball" still gets us to 10-6?.... .....stay tuned............ 2

Mr. WEO Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Since the glorious win in Dallas, the Bills would win a single game the remainder of the season (vs the John Conor Steelers) and would never score 20 points again. Daboll is wasting the Bills time. He's the rate limiting step in the development in this offense. He's a bum. Edited January 5, 2020 by Mr. WEO 1 4 1

Many, many Bills fans were calling him a hero. Out of four first half drives for the Bills TD, punt, FG, FG. You just explained why Josh Allen isn't the problem. That trick play was the only TD play for the Bills. Why can't this OC get the run game going well enough to carry the offense. Why doesn't the passing offense work? Why can't this team make screen plays work? Your ragging on the Bills QB and yet he was the teams leading rusher with 9 rushes for 92 yards a 10.2 YPC avg. Allen also had one receiving TD. What you just don't get is that the Bills current offensive coordinator has been with four NFL teams with multiple QBs and they all have played poorly. Dabolls passing offenses have all been in the upper 20's, 30's. None have been good.

Getting many players to work together this off season will be nice. I hope we can be healthier this off season than we were this past year. 2
