Consistently the best defensive player in football, and he's under contract for a half-decade. Pair him with Ed and let them eat for the next 4 years. Let Jordan walk and take the 3rd Rd comp pick. That’s what I’m thinking.

Those final 2yrs we’re going to be paying a boatload of money for a player that is old and with his size needs the high motor of a young player to be successful. i dont know if i would do it. Id rather draft a player in the 1st rd. pay White a boatload. Keep Poyer and Hyde. Pay Allen a boatload. Reward Jordan Phillips for his success here. And use $$$ to try and get several key free agents at DE and/or WR that may be high-priced. Right but remember, at some point the Bills - probably next season the Bills “window” is going to be open. How many years do you have then - maybe 2 before you have to pay the QB. This move would be a risk, but one you are going to have to take. This scenarios is really interesting because there are good arguments on either side Edited December 23, 2019 by Phil The Thrill

But in a salary cap league you cant have it all. We have a top 5 defense already. Id rather use that cap space (not to mention the draft picks) to improve the offense. Lets also not forget we’re going to have to shell out quite a bit of money to keep our own young talent. I would hate for us to have to lose our own great talented players who are up for FA at 27 bc we’re still paying a 32yr old DT 20Mil/yr 1 2
Royale with Cheese Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Yes...absolutely. You can’t double both Oliver and Donald. We would wreck the middle. 1
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 If they devoted all other resources draft and FA to offense, sure. Ok. 3

Plus the Rams will eat Donald's entire SB, so that helps. I just think you've got your QB on a cheap deal through the end of the 2021 season. Time to go for it IMO. 5

We need to score a heck of a lot more than we’re doing. Elite OL cost money. Id rather trade draft picks for an elite WR that may become available (who knows)...just throwing it out there. if our defense sucked, or was just average, id be much more in favor of investing money AND draft picks (lets not dismiss how costly thatll be) on a single defensive player. 1

brianthomas Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 If we weren't already committed to Star than yeah I'd say go for it. But given that we are & given how much we rotate our DT's i just don't see this as something we'd do. No matter how much i might salivate at the thought of it.

You are right , you can’t have it all but I think bringing a Donald on board would mean: - Losing Phillips, Lawson and maybe Star - Possibly losing Trent Murphy and maybe even Jerry Hughes I would be ok with these moves, and many of them might happen this offseason anyway
Koko78 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 For a first and a lower round pick or two, sure. For multiple first round picks, no. Dude is great, but you can't mortgage your future for one player. 4

Its scary to invest so much on a single player - its not just money we’re investing. He would cost us 3 players worth of draft picks and a crapload of money. He pulls a hammy week 3 and the proverbial poop hits the fan 1

This is an “All In” move for a championship

We can get out of the Star deal this offseason with $7M cap hit. Not great but not the worst either. The next year it goes down to $5M
