Southern Bills Fan Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 It’s hard to compare these QBs because of the entirely different situations they are in. Mahomes is throwing to wide open guys and yes, he looks really good but it’s basically playing catch.

I really believe Allen could potentially develop into something special. In truth, none of us know at this point. However, I do agree with your point it’s absurd how many people on TBD feel the need to put down Mahomes. The dude is an elite QB, and one of the best in the game right now. Comparing him to Allen by doing things like cherry picking stats is ridiculous. I actually like Josh Allen, but it shouldn’t mean we aren’t allowed to comment on how good Mahomes is. That’s just typical Bills fan insecurity. Saying Allen is at Mahomes level is crazy. I agree about Allen, and I'm not claiming the "half" remark as my view. That's a comment on how Allen is viewed by non-Bills fans compared to Mahomes. The weapons excuse is hilarious to me. Does Kelce catch either of those potential Knox TDs? Does Hill catch that one to Beasley? Given the same system/talent Mahomes would put up MUCH better numbers. Yet, many posters on here dismiss him by saying the word weapons repeatedly. It's possible to admit Mahomes is great without condemning Allen. 1

My point wasn't to say that Allen is equal to Mahomes he isn't and he has a long way to go to get there. My point was to show that Allen is closing the gap. And for the record what I posted wasn't cherry picking the stats. It was comparing 2 games played only 2 weeks apart that featured a common opponent with an elite D in their house. I thought it was interesting that in this situation Allen played about as well as Mahomes did. I found that encouraging. My post was aimed at those who continue to use Mahomes great play as a way to take a shot at Allen. And lets be real Mahomes gets a lot of love on 2BD and a lot of attention. For how many years did we have to see repeated posts reminding us that we passed on drafting Mahomes? 1

bills6969 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Allen and Mahomes have that “it” factor. They both are fearless and are clutch when a big play is needed. I don’t see it in Trubisky.

I’d take Allen over half (maybe more) of the other AFC QB’s. I just don’t understand why people need to say guys like Mahomes, Jackson, and Watson aren’t as good as Allen. You can like Allen without being in denial of reality. Allen isn’t as good as those guys right now, it’s simply a fact. Who the hell is saying this? What I've seen posted is that Allen isn't that far behind Watson. Which I think is true. But then again I think Allen is emerging into being a very good QB and Watson is already a very good QB. Most of the stuff on Jackson on 2BD is positive. At the same time it's not knocking Jackson to say that if he were dropped into the Bills offense he would struggle and not be as effective as Allen. That doesn't mean Allen is better then Jackson it simply acknowledges that the 2 play in very different systems and that Jackson benefits from playing in a system designed for him. It's a testament to Jackson's skills and the brilliance of the ravens coaching staff that they've taken the NFL by storm. As for Mahomes, the most common point made on 2BD is that he has a great offensive mind coaching him and he's surrounded with fantastic skill players. I can't think of to many folks who claim Allen is better though. Mahomes is probably the best QB in the NFL. Allen isn't there yet. But it's okay to speculate on how the two might fare if they switched offenses to play in. 1

I just meant that Mahomes has obviously had a superior season overall. I’ve just seen some crazy takes, and didn’t mean to single you out, since your points are all valid. 1

He’s a great player, and everyone loved the move last season, but the Bears were never one defensive player away from the Super Bowl. Huge mistake. 2

I think we're actually pretty close on this topic. And yes Mahomee has had the better season. As for crazy takes on 2BD it comes with the territory and IMO Allen is the target of most of the insanity thrown out around here. I mean just today we learned that: * Allen should be moved to TE * The Bills will NEVER win a championship with Allen at QB * Allen sucks * Allen missed on 10 throws against the Pats * Allen is regressing 1

And this is why I would take Joe Burrow over Chase Young in the upcoming draft. The relative impact of a QB versus a pass rushing specialist is hugely in favor of the QB. And unlike Bruce Smith, who played the run very well, Mack is a bit of a one trick pony. 4 minutes ago, london_bills said: Lol I think the 10 throws against the Pats is aimed at me. ? I had given up on every QB we’ve had over the last 20 years quite early on. I haven’t done that with Allen because he has shown a combination of talent and promise. Next season is going to be huge. That’s when we get a better idea of what Allen is going to be. The believers or skeptics will have their points proven next season. It’s far too early to say he isn’t the answer, that’s just ridiculous. We aren’t talking about Trent Edwards. 1

You don’t trade away a 1st round pick unless it’s for a QB or you already have a franchise QB. Bears went all-in on Trubisky and it looks like it’s not working out.

Haha, I said imagine 10 more completions from allen in the game, what a difference it would make.. So I was really talking about incompletions but when I look at the stat line I would amend that. 13/26, another good few completions would of made a difference, particularly the knox td throw. 10 is a bit much granted. 1

Pass rushers are also known to decline quickly, or have down seasons. Apparently they were counting on Trubisky to develop quickly. I wouldn’t have counted on Mack still being an impact pass rusher years down the road if it took Trubisky time to develop either. What made them think Mack was the missing piece with a young QB is something I don’t get.

They can sign a good vet QB this offseason and be contenders They have a very good defence and an offence that can be good with a better QB. Mitch has shown at time he can be competent, and the Bears offence looked good in those games.
atlbillsfan1975 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 I bet Daboll could make Mahomes look like Allen and Reed could make Allen look like Mahomes. Ha 1
