SCBills Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) I’m fully behind us limiting his non-red zone runs in the regular season, but given our mediocre offense around him, do we think there may be more designed runs/read option in the running game, as opposed to straight shotgun handoff runs? If teams have to spy, and respect the deep ball, that’s a lot of field to be worried about for a defense. Edited December 22, 2019 by SCBills
Tesla03 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 sure hope so. right now we have by far the worst offense in the playoffs which is going to be a huge handicap on us 1
Boatdrinks Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 He should. And I don’t mean that awful QB sweep that Daboll can’t get out of his head. They need to spread things out and have Allen take off if the throw isn’t there. A few options as well. This team isn’t good enough running the ball to not use Allen’s mobility and use it a lot. It’s win or go home, so they need to coach with that mindset. 1
Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Florio seems to think the Bills are saving this for the playoffs. I disagree. He and Simms say the Bills will "unleash" Allen as a runner, but I really don't look for that to happen.
downunderbill Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) They told him to play fearless for only one game it seems, is it Daboll holding him back? Edited December 22, 2019 by downunderbill
row_33 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Their playoff opponent will be a decent team and blitz a lot, so he will run for his life a lot more
MJS Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Josh Allen should not be limited in any way or in any game. Cut the strings and let him play his game.
machine gun kelly Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 It’s almost a misconception is more likely to be hurt when he runs as he has been improving with sliding, running out of bounds etc, and his two injuries were from the pocket holding onto the ball.
NewEra Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 It seems like the coaching staff puts the handcuffs on his running until the 4th quarter. Hard to say it’s been a bad idea when we’re 10-5 and he’s still healthy. I’m really hoping they just let him be Josh Allen for 100% of the game come playoffs. It might be scary at times, but I think we’ll be putting up more points 1
White Linen Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Daboll now has Allen running like a wuss

They obviously realize the limitations on O. I can see them holding back some of the playbook for sure
Dablitzkrieg Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 They will do whatever is necessary to win. If it means running more, he will run more. I expect him to run a ton

NFL safeties and LBs will eventually kill him and turn him over until they do. Good change of pace guy like the guy in Philly, not much more.
skibum Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 If they play the Ravens, he will be running for his life a lot.
DuckyBoys Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 I would use more rpo stuff for sure Anything besides the bland delay run up the gut for 1 yard over and over I'd like to see Allen run that stretch handoff and pull it back and throw out of that I remember Manning used to throw downfield off that play
Steptide Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Bills should rest starters this week, but have regular practices with the number ones to prepare for Houston. 2 weeks of prep for their first playoff game sounds pretty good. Who cares if we lose to the jets next week at this point

Allen has got juke to his game. 1

US Egg Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) If Allen has to run as much as he was forced to against Balt., Pitt. or N.E., things aren't going good. Edited December 22, 2019 by I am the egg man
