Expand Yes Redzone needs to start being a thought. Size is an issue at times.

But I have said for a few weeks they have Kroft who is no smurf at 6’6, they paid him big money, and refuse to use him. I can’t see how he is not a weapon for the red zone for them. 4

SCBills Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 (edited) I’m not going to go crazy over the Duke stuff, but when multiple games in a year have the statement made of “if only we had a bigger receiver in that spot....”, it’s reasonable to wonder why a guy, who’s probably nothing more than depth, but did everything asked of him, and was productive in his playing time, can’t get on the field. oldschoolfootball1963 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 So tired of having several players on the active roster that do nothing. Foster and our fullback can sit. Get Duke Williams active and use him when the situation calls for it. Stop playing around with these games. I’m sick of it. 2
Scott7975 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 I hope they play Duke this week and he balls out so much that they have no choice but to play him in the playoffs. Whatd be interesting to see is if knox, croft and Williams all play, how much size makes a difference. Those are three large recievers and I'll be interested to see how much red zone efficiency changes with them. 1

HerdMenatlity1 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) Duke wasn't even the best receiver on his cfl team. 101 incomplete passes to him in his 2 years in Canada. 101! That's a lot of passes left on the field. All we have his a cfl highlight clip of Duke. His teammate has 1 too. Has a lower incomplete % too. 132 attempts to him in 2017 and only 32 incomplete. Duke had 37 incomplete in only 83 attempts! Duke then had 64 incomplete in 2018. Maybe we signed the wrong guy. Edited December 24, 2019 by Dopey

The defender had a good 2 inches on him. We don't have any receivers that can go vertical and steal the catch. In crunch time you need a player like that. Expand It wouldn't have mattered how tall someone was on that throw they weren't going to steal a catch. The ball was under thrown to the end zone because Allen had to throw off his back foot because the line fell apart. Beasley actually jumped higher than the defender and got a hand on the ball. But no one was making that catch with how good of a position the defender had. 1

So many opportunities in this game and the players failed on both sides of the ball. Expand This is a really important point. Any coach will tell his players, if you can get your hands on it you better catch it. A ball hits Beasley on the hands, and he drops it. Another hits him in the arm pit, and he drops it. Yet another is “too high”, but it glances off his hands. Hands receivers are more important than size at this point. If a guy catches with his hands, he’s using his body to get his hands in front of the defender. Josh Allen needs guys that can catch.
