Been looking at the playoff calculator:

Of the Ravens, Pats, Chiefs, Texans/Titans, Steelers I like the match up vs KC the least.

Too many scenarios where Buffalo has to travel to Arrowhead to face the Chiefs.

If KC wins out, then Buffalo almost always faces the Texans/Titans winner.

If KC gets tripped up and loses at Chicago or home vs the Chargers then Buffalo has to go to Arrowhead

Even if Buffalo trips up New England and wins this week, we face KC in the wild card round if KC loses either of their games!

Someone check me on this, but KC winning out helps Buffalo more than anything else.

EDIT

ok so if Buffalo beats New England it pads well against facing KC in the wildcard round.

so beat New England to avoid KC.....

Otherwise hope KC wins out.

Thanks for update, and work on scenario's, but I'm focusing on 1 week at a time.

I will agree that I don't want to face KC , but let's get the Pats first.

Think there's a good chance Texans could clinch their division this weekend with a win by them and a lose by Tenn.

If were to beat NE I think that really messes up NE's plans in many ways.  First off it means NE has to play hard week 17 to assure they win the game and the division.  Second if KC wins Sunday night then NE could lose their bye so not only does NE have to play hard week 17, but they may be playing the following week again  So no ability to rest Brady, Edelmann, and company.  Where if they beat the Bills, they clinch the division and with a lose by KS Sunday, would clicnh the bye so could rest everyone week 17 and basically have a 3 week break which would help them tremendously.

Even with a win by NE over Miami Week 17, us beating NE tomorrow messes up their plans big time.

We really can't identify opponents in the playoffs. They are the 4 divisional winners and all of them are good to great teams.  They all pose a unique match up problem that needs to be countered. And all 3 phase of the game has to shine as otherwise we will be beat.   The QBs in the AFC side in the playoffs are:

  - Tom Brady

  - Lamar Jackson

 -  Watson

 -  Mahomes

If Josh Allen makes mistakes, these four QBs will make you pay.

Let's all just take a second to enjoy the simple fact we can even have such a discussion 2 weeks before the end of the regular season!

This has to be uncharted territory for almost all of us as far as in a message board setting. I mean, did TBD or any other board like this even exist in '99? I was in high school still using AOL dial up internet IIRC!

The team has travelled well this year. I am not concerned about who we play as much as I am concerned about how well we play. Specifically taking care of the Ball. Nothing changes a game quicker in the playoffs than turnovers.

We will most likely play Houston, Tennessee or KC in the first round.... I feel pretty confident we can beat all of them, though KC would be the toughest.

Even in our best years, Arrowhead has been a tough place for us to play.

Here’s what I want:

bills can get the 2 seed if they win out, pats also lose to Miami, and chiefs lose one more.

bills can get the 3 seed if they win out, pats lose to Miami, and chiefs win out.

bills can play titans as a five seed if Texans lose out and titans win out (they play each other week 17)

beyond that...just win baby!!!

I haven't really thought much about KC and their remaining games.  I just figured Houston is Buffalo's most likely Wild Card opponent, assuming New England beats Miami in their final game of the season.

You want Houston to lose to Tampa to avoid KC in the WC round.

You want KC to lose a game so that on the off chance the Bills win the AFC East, they also get a bye. Very unlikely, but as long as Hou loses on Saturday it's safe to root for it.

Brady and lamar really made us pay when they played us lol.

KC doesn't scare me.  What gets me is going to Tenn (if the win their division) in the wildcard after we already beat them--the tiebreaker here doesn't help us!

It does appear that KC would be a tougher draw than Houston. KC and Houston scare me more than anyone else because I haven’t seen the Bills matchup against them yet. I have seen a few media people already saying Buffalo beats Houston. Houston is going to be ready to show they belong.
It’s the playoffs, every team is probably going to be a tough out.

Houston would definitely be the best matchup. With our biggest weakness being offense... their defense is NOT good.

but at the end of the day, I don’t get why everybody is so worried about who we play. If we’re going to the super bowl, you’re going to have to play more than one team. If you want to win a super bowl, you need to be the best.

Who gets the bye if patriots go 1-1 and kc 2-0?

KC does.

And honestly, I don't care who we play at this point it would be nice to just make NE have to play in the first round away.
