Stephon Gilmore is asked to be an enforcer in the most man-centric defense in the NFL, and nobody does it better. Tre’Davious White is a surgeon in zone coverage, and as good as he is, he’s probably hasn’t hit his ceiling yet. The only people who lose in this discussion are the quarterbacks who have to deal with them.

This is, I think, a fantastic write comparing the two best Corners in the NFL. Rarely will you find a piece that gives such a fair breakdown while actually looking at what each player is asked to do for their respective teams while also considering supporting cast.

We should have the 2 best CB’s  in the NFL on our roster right now.

People keep saying this but would we of even drafted Tre White if we'd still had Gilmore?

Gilmore doesn't fit the scheme, for one thing. He's a man corner, not a zone corner.

Not to take away from him he’s a good corner, but we all know Gilmore was not on that level here and never was going to be.
He is an extremely physical corner at the line and very handsy off the line. He would never be allowed to play that way here. He would lead the league in penalties.
And just as others pointed out he’s a man on man kinda guy not zone. Same reason we shipped Darby out. Same reason josh Norman sucked outside of Carolina. Not everyone is interchangeable this isn’t madden.

Ironically he is absolutely not physical when it comes to attempted tackles.

And Gilmore didn’t exactly seem thrilled with the possibility of remaining in Buffalo.

Multiple posters mentioned that Gilmore didn't smile or seem excited on draft night, which was written off as Gilmore just isn't an expressive person.  Maybe Gilmore never wanted to be here from day 1.
