Tre'Davious is tied at 6 interceptions with Stephon Gillmore for the NFL lead. He is the best CB in the league, period. He will be first team All Pro and Pro Bowl. This pick is going to pay off for years to come.

Too bad Gillmore chose to sign with the Evil Empire, which had a bleak future. Should have stuck with Buffalo. Buffalo will own the AFC East for the next 15 years, thanks to Tre'Davious and Josh.

Gilmore was excellent here too. Bills fans always underrated him. I had no doubt he would become a star in New England. He was made to look bad in his final year here by Rex's absolute mess of a scheme and the abysmal safety play. He is elite.

On White I have said since his rookie year he was borderline elite and the two things I wanted to see him do to force himself into that category were a) get his hands on more balls; and b) deal with those longer limbed and long striding wideouts that had given him occasional issues his first two seasons. I think both of those have been demonstrated. He is a top 3 corner in the NFL right now. I'd have him, Gilmore and Hayward as my top 3 currently.

No need to imagine.  Our secondary is doing just fine without him.

I've said that Gilmore is the same player with the Cheaters that he was with the Bills.  He just gets away with stuff with them that he couldn't with the Bills.

Gilmore was good in Buffalo.   He just gave up the last season. He took off plays and IMO that crap doesn't belong.

I thought Tre White would be good when Buffalo drafted him, but he's better than I expected, by a lot.  I'd still like to see a better CB on the other side.  Levi Wallace is a smart CB and has had some good games, but he's also been owned a few times, especially by big physical receivers that have some athleticism.

Rex was a cancer on that defense.  Any half-competent coach could have gotten allstar level performances from GIlmore.  Rex had a terrible scheme and no vision that caused everyone on that D to look poor.

Gilmore seemed like he wasn’t very interested in tackling his last season in buffalo. Probably to protect himself. But it didn’t settle well with us fans so that’s why Gilmore is hated so much. He sold out his effort with the Bills for a pay dat. Glad he’s gone

I have disagreed with this countless times before and will again. Did he express frustration? Yes. But a lot of those plays where fans immediately jumped to Gilmore being beaten and giving up were absolutely not on him. I have never seen a team blow so many coverages at the safety position as that 2016 Bills team did. Lucky we had Rex and his amazing defensive mind.

Agree. I might put 5% on Gilmore that year for him not looking like he was anything like elite. It was 70% Rex and the scheme and the other 25% atrocious safety play. Rex was the worst thing to happen to this franchise in 20 years. And that is saying something.

He was good here - but he didn't have the same swagger.  He certainly was not even probably top 10 during his tenure here.  I think it had a lot to do with the rest of the secondary as a unit under rex.  He was always that guy looking around like - wheres my help?

I always argued he was top 10 when he was here.

Pay that man

They will. That $90 million in cap really isn't that much after we pay this defense. I'm sure Beane knows he can't spend like crazy this offseason. That money is there to keep our young players entering their prime years.

if they pay shaq, Jordan phillips, and tre this year or next that 90 millions starts to go down pretty fast.  Good problem to have with all this young talent

When you give up on plays ....  You are not the best IMO.

Sure there is a time when it is impossible to make the play so a player will tail off. but IIRC  Gilmore gave up before he even tried.

I always supported Gilmore in his years in Buffalo, up to the last season where he didn't care any more.

I look at this team and I SEE the want and desire to never give up.

Yeah - he was in the conversation in that 2nd level of guys.  Gotta remember - He started in 2012 and guys like Bailey and Tillman were still back there.  Casey Hayward was really good for a few years when healthy.  Sherman was dominant.  Peterson was awesome.  Haden.  Revis.  Harris.  Talib.  Even that jerk Vontae Davis.  Norman was awesome with carolina for a couple of years.  Peters.

Lot of guys who I think were better for a time.  He's found his stride and his role.  He gets to play man a lot, and he's trusted to do it sometimes with no help.  He's making plays when theyre there to be made and just generally taking away half the field.

While he was very good here - i don't think he did that.
