I love it!

Im happy for Tomlin, who has never coached a losing season, for what he's been able to do after being put in a situation where he had every excuse for this to be his first.

However not Sunday Night buddy. Im not rooting for a blowout but a convincing win in which Steelers have no real chance in the 4th quarter.

Interview with their college coach Jimmye Laycock in The Buffalo News.  Wow, this does sound lie McDermott:

BN: Was there anything about the strategy or structure that played a role in preparing them for coaching?

JL: For one thing, you have to really coach them up here. It's not the fact that you could have gone out and gotten the greatest athletes in the world and been successful. So we had to work like crazy to find every little angle we could and develop players the best we could and teach them and get them better and better. I've said to people, "William & Mary makes you a great coach." And a number of guys who have gone on from here have said that they really, really grew as coaches from being here and within the type of program that we had, with what we had to do, and all that.

For many, many years, we had such hard academic requirements. Admissions were very, very difficult, school was very difficult, we had no facilities and very little money. But we never made excuses, and we found a way to win, and we won consistently. And that's something that I think has resonated with them and they've taken that on forward with them.

McDermott looks like the type of guy that would roid in college.

In high school (73-77) steroids were available but the body acne was hideous.

Those guys also had roid rage too. Stayed as faraway from them as possible.

Local radio today was talking about this. Brian Finneran who played WR for the Falcons and played college ball at Villanova talked about McDermott as a safety. Said McDermott had a concrete head and hit very very hard in college.

Sounds like Tomlin too.  He says the Steelers make no excuses all the time.  And McD is definitely the same way.  They have one of the necessities of leadership: they inspire confidence in the people who follow them.
