VW82 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) I thought Daboll had a really bad day. Him moving to the booth and reading the defense pre-snap for Allen was a big reason for the offensive turnaround IMO. Today we didn't have the proper protections when they blitzed and the times we did max protect or when Josh changed the play (likely due to whatever Daboll was seeing) we played right into their defensive scheme. This doesn't excuse the awful performances from our QB and receivers, but it was a rough outing for our OC. Edited December 8, 2019 by VW82
london_bills Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Alot of this highlights what an issue the deep ball is. I think people are dissapointed with theae continual deep misses. Obviously Allen is you can see it in his face. Because we can't hit that deep pass more pressure is being put on the offence.
Magox Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 They’ll learn from it. Hats off to the Ravens D, they brought the heat from all sorts of angles and the protection wasn’t there and when it was Allen missed a few deep passes and the receivers made a few costly drops. Onto the Steelers and their defense will be equally as good.

The O line was mostly terrible, and when they were good enough, Josh panicked anyway and made bad decisions with his feet. How many times did he take off out of the pocket when he had time to step up and throw? Josh also made lots of bad throws downfield, and when he was on target, guys dropped passes. The run blocking was bad, too. The offense laid an egg today, and it was 90% execution. Daboll gets a pass on this one, from what I could see.

And if he isn't doing it then he isn't earning his contract because purely his physical play has been no better than average. Center doesn't see late shifts by the defense. QBs always have protection calls.

An NFL qb with literally the strongest arm ever - and a guy the bills drafted to deal with the wind - should be expected to occasionally connect. He has to keep trying even if this year is a lost cause. They basically drafted the next big ben, but ben is an accurate deep thrower. He has gotten more accurate on other throws, so it’s wise to push and push him. Crazy opinion: Orton was the Bills’ most accurate deep thrower since Kelly 2/3 of the way through the 1992 season (he ruptuted his bursar sac then and was never the same). Address the bookends ASAP Dawkins isn’t great, but it could be a lot worse. He’s at least average, and he is durable (possibly the most underrated attribute among fans). Ford isn’t very good right now, but most rookie tackles struggle in the nfl. Marcus Cannon was terrible early on and is now excellent. Going back, Ken Jones was a holding machine for the Bills but became excellent over time. 1
Marv's Neighbor Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I blame the Bills Mafia for not "taking care of" the Refs pre-game. On the other hand, post game may have worked too?
njbuff Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I hate to break it to the folks in this thread, but................ the Ravens are 11-2 for a reason and their D is a BIG part of that reason. 2
london_bills Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Just watching the highlights. Knox isn't only dropping balls, he's whiffing on pass Pro aswell.

Proud of the victory. Very impressed with the Bills. That’s a football team that’s going to be around, through the playoffs, into the playoffs, that’s a good football team. Very well-coached by Sean McDermott and very tough, hard-nosed, hard-playing football team. So, to win that game, obviously, is a very special victory. london_bills Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) Just some quick observations from looking at more highlights. There are plays where Allen had no chance, the pressure is coming and the receivers aren't looking at allen so he spins and ends up sacked. There are some plays where Allen doesn't take a gain that is there. Doesnt pull the trigger. Players are open here. There is a play I saw where allen is looking to pull the trigger and kroft is not even looking at allen. Maybe it's a longer developing route but kroft is looking at a Ravens defender in the distance. Allen is sacked. Surely kroft needs to be more aware here. Allen made a few clever ad lib plays and the receivers dropped the ball. Ford and knox getting beat in pass pro. Edited December 9, 2019 by london_bills
