Now I recognize him. Linus Pauling! I'm a Biologist by background. He lived near Stanford Univ.

We have a winner.  Wacka and Linus Pauling.

I met Linus as a freshman chemistry student <ahem> several  years

ago.  We did not realize what a big deal he was. His name was in 

all of our chemistry books as he discovered, created invented  many of the 

theories we were studying.
