I considered it reasonably likely that Daboll would get poached. I had presumed that Dorsey would step into the OC role, making for a seamless transition.

If BOTH get taken? No bueno.

I would not love seeing Josh have to learn a new system.

Rivera to the Browns?

If they were smart they would do this. With that talent, get Rivera and a good OC (maybe just keep Monken) and they might actually have something.

Not shocked. Watching All or Nothing in the summer I was shocked how little coaching I saw. Now I know the way these things are edited is about being good for TV but every team meeting they showed seemed to be:

"We gotta have this one. Do it for the guy next to you. Don't let him down."

No correction. No fundamentals. No different approach to the gameplan. Just more rah- rah. I came away from that documentary totally unimpressed. People have suggested his name in connection with Dallas but even Jason Garrett did more coaching in the Cowboys All or Nothing season. I think Ron is a good guy. He came across as someone who was respected in the building. But seriously I was left questioning how good of a coach he was.

If the owner is seeing that day after day then no wonder they moved on.

Good luck Perry Fewell.

I don’t think that’s as much the HC job. What I saw was a HC who tried to set the tone for the team and also cared a great deal about his players. I particularly liked the way Rivera tried to work with Funchess after he was dealing with a death.
Maybe it was time to move on, but waiting till after the season is over would of been a better look for the owner.

It could be tough for the Panthers to get a top HC candidate next year given Tepper's growing reputation as a meddler with a trigger finger. Reports are he wanted Tomlin fired when he was a 5% minority owner in Pittsburgh. Keep in mind Tomlin never had a losing season, won a Superbowl, and IMO effectively managed toxic personalities like Antonio Brown & Ben Roethlisberger (who somehow came off the worst in a story about a future president cheating on his wife with a porn star).

Yeah that is hilarious.?

Even if he wanted to move back to Carolina for some reason..........he's been graced to have survived passing on Mahomes and Watson and still getting another good chance at a Josh Allen 12 months later......he would be pretty stupid to press his luck and go back to square one again.

Me either. It would really stunt his development, in my opinion.

I just have to hope that Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane, being notoriously meticulous and well-prepared guys, have got a short list of OC replacements on hand, and that whoever they choose in this hypothetical scenario keeps things as similar as possible to Daboll's scheme.

I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself with all of this, but it IS one of the risks of having a head coach whose pedigree is defense. Having one's DEFENSIVE coordinator hired away isn't as big of a deal. Having to make wholesale changes to OFFENSIVE systems, though? Not so easy.

Perry Fewell as interim HC? Blast from the past

Shades of Nov 17 2009..... "April/Fewell's" day........when Jauron got fired and they had to choose which coordinator would be the interim.

I think Ron could come in IF Leslie hits the road at the end of the season, either as a HC (if the opportunity arises) or as an addition to a new coaching staff. But I dunno. This really doesn't surprise me. The Panthers struggled all year despite the effort of McCaffery , and their defense hasn't been good enough. A lot of things can happen between now and next season, I am primarily jacked up for the rest of our season. Lets GO Buffalo!!!

Kuechly as the Mike, put Milano and Edmunds on the outside. Wow!

In theory I like it, but now I am hearing more about Kuechly's potential concussion problems?

1/2 this list is pure fantasy.  No way like Lincoln Riley or McDermott are leaving their jobs.  Perhaps Harbaugh gets canned this year since he can never beat OSU and that's all Michigan fans care about.  Rhule is another possibility given that Baylor (as a Private school)  likely lacks the resources of OU to throw a ton of cash at him.

Rivera was a holdover from the Richardson days.  New owners probably wanted their own guy to put their own mark on the franchise but still the timing was poor.

And they are clearly saving the 19 mil cap hit and moving on from Cam.

The HC QB pairing is becoming almost as important and GM/HC pairing.
