I’m sure this applies to every team playing a Thursday game, but I’m just now thinking about it with the Cowboys on deck.

I’m assuming the players still get their off day, but the coaches don’t.  Do the assistant coaches do prep work before the Broncos game?  Do they do all the prep work and new plays implementation within 3 days? Does the game being on the road and at 4:30 change things at all?

Thankfully we are home this Sunday

I don't think coaches get an off day period regardless of what day the game is on. It's why i always wonder why those who claim Romo needs to be a coach don't understand that most of the player announcers are happy to make big dollars without the stress and long hours of coaching.

Why would they think they would want to make that trade?

This is an older article from Brian Billick about how a normal week vs. a Thursday game week looks.

Probably immediately after the game, film prep on the Cowboys start, Monday is probably a film review day/walk through, Tuesday & Wednesday full practices.

No days off this week

McDermott and the coaches will be probably start work right after the Broncos game. Every team that plays on Thursday goes thru it. Also I bet the Bills coaching staff put in work on the Cowboys during their bye week to get ahead start for the game.

That's a good question - it would seem to make sense, but with our bye week being so early, I'm not sure how much sense in this case.

Per Billick in the article linked above, it's radically different than a normal week.

Normal week Monday am is film review/grading in am then coaches stay late to game plan.  Players watch film together and have "get right day".  Tuesday players have off except for treatment and lifting (2nd "get right" day).  Then Weds/Thurs/Fri practice, Sat walk-through and meetings

Thurs game they skip the Monday film review (unless, presumably, there is something critical they need to solve).  Players watch Sunday night on their own.

Coaches get right to game planning and try to have it done by Monday pm, meet to review

T-W are walkthroughs only, no practices or lifting.  Then Weds they travel.

True, I think the days off come after the game. Good with the bad. Players get Friday,Saturday, and maybe Sunday off before they start the regular week of prep.

Coaches get the extra time to prepare.
We will need it against Baltimore.

I’d take a loss to the Cowboys if it meant wins against Denver and Baltimore.  I wouldn’t like the loss, especially on Thanksgiving and Nationally televised, but conference wins mean more.

They pretty much get right to work on game prep for Dallas while finishing up film review/grades for Denver.

Fun fact: The combined record of teams Dallas has beat is 11-36-1, while Buffalo's is 13-47.
