BillsFan692 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Lot of talk about Ed the past couple of weeks, I feel like he showed up yesterday. Do you think it was his best game as a bill? 4
Ya Digg? Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I think he played well early - wasn't getting the stats, but was there on a lot of plays, causing disruptions for his teammates. Seemed to hit a wall the last couple of weeks but played really well yesterday. I will say yesterday was his best game so far though.
wppete Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 He played awesome yesterday!!! Watched the game again and he was pushing the pocket almost every play. He barely missed 2 more sacks yesterday. Id like to see Jordan Phillips and Ed Oliver as our 2 DTs. 8

Well, I can agree with this but we need Harrison Phillips to come back healthy next year to rotate in---he's very good against the run game. 1

I cannot for the life of me understand why they aren't out there on 3rd and long. Outside of that, they shouldn't be on the field at the same time. They are great pass rushers, but not very good run defenders. Plus, they play the same position, so it wouldn't work on an every down basis. Edited November 18, 2019 by JoshAllenHasBigHands 2
Ramza86 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Nice to see him be active..but uh lets see again next week.
stony Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 His sack was the least impressive part of his game.
VW82 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 (edited) I wouldn't go so far as to say his rookie season has been a write off but it's definitely been underwhelming by any measure. Hopefully he can continue figuring things out on the fly this year. He has a lot of work ahead of him this off season. There needs to be some major improvements in his game in order for this draft pick to be justified IMO. Edited November 18, 2019 by VW82
TJC25 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Ed Oliver has shown a lot he has been receiving a lot of double team attention. Getting him away from star helps. Star has no push even one on one when star and ed are out there ed gets the double and still gets a better push then star 1
SoCal Deek Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Like all rookies, becoming a professional is the biggest change Oliver will go through. The season is longer, the opponents are bigger, older and faster... and you’re transitioning to a new life away from home and family. It’s different for every young kid. We’ll see. 2
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I think part of this "play fearless" thing had something to do with him. He's been one of the offenders in the tentative game the past few weeks. It's not just about fitting your gap, he wasn't attacking his gap, disrupting play, or finishing downs. He did all 3 of those things this week.
TigerJ Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I understand he was unblocked on the play where he got his sack. He didn't blow though, and he played a solid game otherwise.

Do you think it was his best game as a bill? Most certainly. And while others here have been incessantly critical of him (for good reason) let’s remember he’s still a rookie. If he was balls-out terrible, he wouldn’t be getting the snaps he’s getting. He needs time. He aint ever gonna get any taller or significantly bigger, but let’s let him learn the trade a bit and see if he can use his strengths to overcome those weaknesses. Good game by Ed. Gotta do it more consistently eventually. 8 hours ago, TigerJ said: I understand he was unblocked on the play where he got his sack. He didn't blow though, and he played a solid game otherwise. Best thing about Ed is what he said about that “sack”: still looking for a real one. Guy’s got the right attitude for sure.

GreggTX Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 No question about it. He's nowhere near good enough to justify a #9 pick, but he was better against Miami. Isn't everyone? My hope is that he'll bulk up this offseason and be much better, but seeing is believing.
