Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Example number 50 of why passing yards stat is meaningless and has no correlation to winning https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28102402/falcons-quarterback-matt-ryan-hits-top-10-all-pass-yards 1 1
GunnerBill Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 This is just a result of the way the game has changed in fairness. But Matt Ryan is right there with Philip Rivers for me as the best QB currently in the league not to win a Superbowl. He has had a very good career. If only Kyle Shanahan had just run the ***** ball...... 2 1

There was also that whole fiasco with the Atlanta headset malfunctioning, right before the Pats**** started their amazing, unbelievable, no one has ever seen anything like it comeback.

I don't buy that if you don't win a ring your career means nothing. Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers have had very fine careers and have been the best of the rest just short of the elite bunch for a long while.

No. 9 minutes ago, Warcodered said: Matt Ryan 109-84 Phillip Rivers 127-102 Win percentage up to date. Josh allen .571 Phillip rivers .565 Matt ryan .555 Matt stafford .457 Soooooo. What does this have to do with anything?

I was looking at a stat that I thought might be more relevant than their passing yards and honestly there is a significant difference between them and the players that are considered great in their era. Though weirdly enough Eli Manning is worse but still has two rings.

I just don't agree that anyone without a ring is a waste. Or was Dan Marino a waste? Jim Kelly? Yes, ultimately the name of the game is to win and to try and win a Superbowl. But even if he never does that Matt Ryan has had a fine career.

But never mind ring. Matt ryan has been to playoffs once in last 4 years. Same as tyrod taylor and Blake Bortles.

Same as tyrod taylor and Blake Bortles. Twice actually. They made in in 2016 and 2017. After this season they will have made the playoffs in half of Matt Ryan's 12 seasons despite playing in the same division as a first ballot HoF QB and possible HoF coach (bounty gate may keep him out to be fair). Matt Ryan has had a really, really good career. That ring that they should have won in 2016 would have been nice and a just reward but alas it wasn't to be.
Alphadawg7 Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 IMO Matt Ryan is good but also a bit over rated. He just doesn’t have that IT factor or killer instinct. His teams have been loaded with talent and routinely grossly under perform.

I prefer Allen to be more like Big Ben...Be the game manager and don't give the game away. The Bills should be looking for a North South runner in next years draft. I think they missed a great opportunity in not going after Drake or Carlos Hyde.

Royale with Cheese Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 I’m sorry but how does this prove passing yards is meaningless? I’m not a huge passing yards advocate either. As a starter, he is 104-78.
