Did the Jets franchise pay attention AT ALL to Miami the past few years?

What did they expect?

They have minimal talent.

Darnold looks worse.

Their players are revolting.

Let’s do it all again next year!

Normally I’m excited for next year because of the draft and the hope that the Bills will be just a little bit better. Wow, this Jests saga adds another plot line that I just cannot wait to witness unfold.

It doesn’t matter if he’s on IR... he’s getting paid to be there and he no showed twice and told them about it after the fact.

I agree. The issue isn’t that they fined him. It’s how he reacted. On the heels of Osemele.  Can you imagine if Harrison Phillips did this? No you can’t. The Jets have a culture of distrust.

I’d be curious to see more of where the split is behind the scenes. Obviously some unhappy with the front office and I find it hard that anyone’s super pro-Gase...

But is there a contingent of players that are tired of tantrums over things like a fine for no showing work or freakouts about a GM accepting a call about a possible trade? Some have to be frustrated that the teams not playing well and guys are making immature distractions that make them all look bad and gets in the way of putting the best possible play on tape.

Enough is enough with these players taking to social media crying because they got punished, fined, benched, etc.

Its beyond ridiculous, and unprofessional.

This guy takes a 4 day weekend, doesn't show up to work, doesn't call off to tell work he won't be there, then gets mad he's been penalized?   In the real world you'd be fired buddy.

The league needs to come down hard on these social media posts.

1st offense - mandatory 4 game suspension without pay.

2nd offense - mandatory 8 game suspension without pay.

3rd offense - mandatory 16 game suspension without pay and team rights to terminate players contract without repercussions.

Enough is enough all ready.

Exactly. I swear some people get so pissy over people posting on Twitter. This world is truly something else.

Its not freedom of speech.   His comments are detrimental to the franchise's business.  He's not only trashing his employer in a public forum but also releasing pictures of private property.

There are consequences.

Is it feedom of speech to yell FIRE in a movie theater when there's no fire?

Try telling that to a judge while he's handing down your sentence.

the penalties Suggested were ridiculous but most places of employment have some variety of social media policy. The Nfl is a different beast with the players individual interests being front page but for most of us you’d get tagged by your hr department if you put the company on blast

freedom of speech is freedom from government limiting speech not your boss.

I mean, he decided not to tell the team until after he no call no showed his job twice in a week?

Exactly, he is getting paid a sh*t ton of money to do what the bosses ask. You show up and do your job and don't whine like a pu$$y on the internet because they fine you.

When you boil it down this is EXACTLY what happened. Then he comes back and plays the victim. Do things the way you knew they needed to be done and none of this happens.

No, EXACTLY what happened is that he decided not to tell the team until after he no call no showed his job twice in a week, and the team decided not only to fine him, but to embarrass him with a ridiculously unprofessional public spectacle.

What the hell sort of a (*^*&%^$^#organization publishes employee punishments on a big-screen TV?  I mean...people here think that's okay?  That it's an appropriate management practice?

Not picking any sides here, but those fines seem excessive for missing two sessions of treatment. Curious how teams set fines; are these standard fines under the CBA?

He just got a 4 year $36 million deal with $9 million signing bonus.  He missed two days of work - that’s not excessive.

I'm guessing if Phillips got fined, the Bills organizations wouldn't publicly embarrass him along with it.

id expect that’s a standard rate. Or at least capped in amount allowed by the CBA.

in perspective though, he’s banking about 10m this year and into his 16 weekly checks (without getting into the various bonus types) and then breaking it into 7 daily amounts per week he’s getting paid like 90k a day for the season.

heck, he’s getting paid 27k a day if split across 365 days. So it’s at most like half a days pay he was fined for skipping treatment without telling the team in advance

He said they fined him the maximum.
