We had several players that started excellent, got injured, and never played the same. Dennis Shaw was the Offensive Rookie of the Year, then playing for some really horrible teams. He became a journeyman and faded away to oblivion. Dennis Shaw was given the award but Marlin Briscoe was the reason he won it. As soon as Briscoe went to Miami, Shaw was done. In fact, I heard Shaw was traded for Linda Lovelace.
njbuff Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Would Robb Riddick's 15 TD's in 1988 be considered a one hit wonder?

Riddick played 6 years as a back up and a solid ST player. 1988 was his final season and he had 12 TD’s rushing as a short yardage specialist and 1 TD receiving .

At least we got a 1st rounder out of him. 123 games played, Peerless was never a #1 WR, but he had a fine career. Maybe the guy that was supposed to take his place as the #2 behind Moulds could be considered a one hit wonder, Jeremy McDaniel (#86), exploded as the third WR in 2000, but did nothing the next year. Promising FA but had a foot injury, never played in the NFL again. I liked him from the slot, he could get open.
Gray Beard Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Arthur Moats knocked Brett Favre out of the game Don’t cross the Moats! Moats had that one season when he was a fan favorite.

Being from the 70s as well, I recall hearing Nixon viewed 'Deep Throat' numerous times, because he wanted to 'get it down pat'... Edited April 13, 2020 by Ridgewaycynic2013 1
Irv Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) I always thought Bryce Paup was a little bit of a one hit wonder. Had a monster year and won MVP, then halved his sacks the next two years consecutively. I also thought he got a lot of his sacks because of Bruce. Edited April 14, 2020 by Irv
GreggTX Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) I nominate Reuben Gant, or as we used to call him -- Reuben Can't. Also, that CB from Ohio State that got his first start guarding Jerry Rice and held him under 50 yards -- Marlon Kerner. I think he retired because of some strange illness. He seemed to be a budding star and then he was gone. Edited April 14, 2020 by GreggTX
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I go with Karlos - 9 TDs on 100 Touches, and like 600 yards. And he never played again...
