The conversations surrounding Allen are very similar to EJ, who also had a promising start. When Allen can show that he can read a defense and defeat a blitz, then the converstations will end. Genuine question: how football smart do people think Allen is? Has he developed his reading of defenses? Edited November 13, 2019 by london_bills
Bangarang Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Such a historically stupid question from Sully.

Guy has always tried to make everything about him instead of the Bills. Always asks stupid questions for attention. I know what you are saying. Mike schopp too? I do think there needs to be people who will be somewhat 'provocative' in their opinions and they are entitled to them. I get more frustrated listening to John Murphy personally than schopp or Sullivan. I don't always want a positive spin put on bills talk. Edited November 13, 2019 by london_bills

He's not happy with the run defense, he's not happy with the lack of scoring on offense. He hired his second offensive coordinator- he and Beane moved up for JA. I am not saying McD is a bad coach but he gets some of the blame. He isn’t used to the media around these parts getting on him- imagine if he was in Philly with this ***** show? Matt_In_NH Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 And Josh Allens numbers are simiilar to Drew Brees's numbers at the beginning of his career. I guess reporters are to ask deuchy questions but the answer is obvious to the whole world. No its not good enough. I will say this, Tyrod was declining over his last 20 while Josh has been rising. We need a lot more improvment or he will be just another in the long list of QB;s who did not make it here.
FiftyPercent Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Wow, Jerry's pertinent question got a lot of TBD panties in a wad. 1

Casey D Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Are your frustrated with the offense? I mean he answered as best as anyone could, I'm frustrated if we are not moving the ball and scoring. Lot of scintillating journalism there.

Because who has time for all that context nonsense. Does the fact that in 9 less games Young threw ELEVEN more picks and only ONE more TD than Allen mean anything to you, at all? 1 1
Hapless Bills Fan Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 4 hours ago, GunnerBill said: No they are not. He did not play well on Sunday. When I said it after the game you all jumped on me and countless people have come out and said it since. I didn't say bench him, or move on, or he is done. I said he played poorly on Sunday and he needs to play better. Allen needs to play better than he played on Sunday, but to compare how he played to Tyrod's play is IMO (having watched Sunday's film, and watched Tyrod) mistaken. Allen did a lot of things on Sunday that I never saw Tyrod do. Allen also didn't do some things Sunday that he needs to do. He also had passes hit guys in the hands and get dropped or knocked away, and that has to change too.
wagon127 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 There's a reason a lot of fantasy football leagues draft QB's much later then they used to. They realized there isn't much of a difference week to week between the 4th best QB, and the 15th best QB. I only bring up fantasy because we are talking about Stats. Decision making, and completing drives when it matters, is the difference between good QBs and bad QBs. Allen is still a work in progress, and he needs at least the full 2020 season before you start thinking its never going to work.
Maine-iac Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) I was a Taylor fan. Specifically a Taylor fan in Roman/Lynn's offense. The complete inability to keep pass catchers around Taylor was the biggest hindrance to his time here. This defense and Taylor and that offense would be a pretty good combination. All that said bringing in Dennison was the nail in the coffin. Daboll is definitely a step up from Dennison and I really feel like the OL and Allen's growing pains are fixable problems. The one thing Taylor didn't bring enough of that Allen seems to already have is that "clutch" factor. There's no real stat for it. Allen just seems to make his best and biggest plays late in games. Even the Cleveland game he made plays that could and should have won that game. I think that mixed with his physical talent make him good. Give him enough time with (hopefully) one offense (I'm alright with Daboll) and I think Allen can be the QB we thought we were drafting. ps I love it when people argue pass catchers not helping Allen like the guys we have now are not miles better than the guys Taylor threw to with Dennison here.
