Times change.  The Constitution is a living, breathing document.

Because idiots like you would have hated, fought.  Why was slavery issue kicked down the road 70 years?

you’re like a communist talking point warp speed. In one page you managed to get in “general welfare”, “living breathing document” and “slavery”!  Bravo!!!  ?

I think this is what they referred to in Spaceballs as Ludicrous Speed!

nothing doesn’t fall under general welfare?  So you’re saying the federal government controls everything under the constitution. Solid position there!!

Proper English please.  I responded to:

"...what doesn’t fall under “general welfare."

Nothing.  Coupled with "what doesn't"... Means "everything" Dr. Spock.

Free rechargeable AAA batteries for all!  Falls under the "general welfare" clause...

so everything falls under that statement according to you?  They lay out those words in the preamble and then actually enumerate the powers of the federal government, which doesn’t include Healthcare or Retirement or Housing or Schooling or anything like that. Yet you find that somewhere in those two words?

How about the trigger for your nuclear weapons?

Really?  Because I thought the Second Amendment only applied to muzzle-loading, single-shoot smoothbore muskets?

Not just that: Freedom of the press only applies to hand-crank movable-type printing presses, and freedom of speech only applies to the spoken word.

Anyone else uncomfortable by the thought of EII holding a loaded firearm?

I’ve never been a health care voter. How you pay for care doesn’t change how many people are sick or how often they get sick. My problem is that we already know that every service the federal government attempts to provide is severely degraded in quality. So the question that needs to be asked is what’s the most efficient way to keep the QUALITY of care up? The QUANTITY doesn’t change.

Thanks for saving me the time.

And another thing....

This is why the framers left a clear way to change the constitution, through the amendment process. If 2/3 of the house and senate and 3/4 of the states want things like Medicare for All, we can amend the constitution and give that power to the federal government. It’s not complicated. That would necessitate the power grabbers to make compelling cases to the public though, which is why they avoid this process.

We don’t live in a democracy, we live in a republic. This was intentional, so that 51% of the people could not vote to take from the 49%.

No, it doesn't.

Hell, healthcare didn't even exist when the Constitution was written.  Was there no general welfare before health care was invented?

Going down that line....let's get rid of medicare medicaid and the regulations that require employers to provide health care!

Think of the Freedom Baby....MAGA!!

Fiscally Independent, Socially Independent. I don't like saying 'conservative' because 1) 'Conservatives' haven't conserved anything. 2) Progress isn't necessarily a bad thing. I attempt to be a pragmatist.

I do generally eschew anything pertaining to socialism/leftism/progressive-ism because I think it's a destructive ideology primarily based upon feelings. The saying 'The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions' should be engraved in huge letters in both chambers of Congress.

You're right about modern "conservatives." They HAVEN'T conserved anything.

They're all in bed with the same masters as the leftists.

Really, they all need to go.

Progress is an excellent thing.  But the vast majority of people calling themselves "progressive" haven't proposed or accomplished any type of meaningful progress in decades.
