mead107 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 you just never know when your time is up . very sad
IDBillzFan Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 I can't begin to say how much that sucks. What a terrible, terrible thing to have happen. Twenty-six. With a wife and child. Crap. That just freakin' sucks.
Tux of Borg Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Sad day. I'm glad the NFL takes player safety so seriously.
Golden Wheels Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 (edited) Former NFL defensive lineman Al Lucas died Sunday from a presumed spinal cord injury sustained while trying to make a tackle for the Los Angeles Avengers during an Arena Football League game, the team said. Lucas was taken to California Hospital and all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, team physician Dr. Luga Podesta said in a statement. Rubes Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 How incredibly tragic. And he leaves behind a wife and daughter, how sad. As a side note, his brother plays for a team in Arena Football's minor league. Arena football has a minor league? That's gotta be a tough gig. They get paid, what, about a dollar fifty per game?
envirojeff Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 What bothered me about this story: 1.) the horrible loss - first and foremost! 2.) This reporter, for some reason, had to mention that the LA team won the ball game? WHAT?? Why was this mentioned? IMO it takes away from the tragedy. Jeff
