One of the best debut albums of all time was released.  I’m sure many of you will argue that there are many others worthy of this praise but these guys were, and still are, my favorite band.

EDIT:  Sorry I didn't know you needed to sign in to the WSJ to read the article.  It was very good but here is the album I'm referring to:

Slightly off topic, but I listed to the Fillmore East record this weekend. SO GOOD. My only Allmans record and the only one I need.

Check out their debut album.  Many of you know I'm a live music freak and almost only listen to live shows many streamed the day after.  Thought Live at Fillmore East is awesome it's pieced together from three separate shows.  I'd rather listen to the whole show including the chatter with the crowd in between.

If any of you like jam band and you like live music this is the best app ever.

I like Umphrey's McGhee when they do their mashups.

Not a bad jam band.  They're no Dave Matthews Band, but definitely pretty good.

UM is by far may favorite group right now.  Not a huge fan of their mashups but they are fun.  They usually do a Halloween show of only mashups but they didn't do that this year.

I saw the ABB in the mid-90s in Saratoga.  I'm so glad I did, as it was my only time.  They did an acoustic set (30-40 minutes) dedicated to Robert Johnson.  It was phenomenal.

This is why I try to get my son to as many "legends" concerts as possible.  A lot of these guys/bands will either be dead or retired by the time he's old enough to go on his own.  He appreciates it and loves every one of them.

I have FAR too many, "damn, I wish I'd have seen him/her/them before it was too late."

I saw them at the Aud in the mid-late 70's.   I don't remember much of the show.  Saw them at The Fox in Oakland for their 40th anniversary tour in 2009.  That was an awesome show and Derek and Warren were amazing together.  Shame only Jaimoe and Dicky are left.

Damn shame, indeed.

My biggest issue with the Dave Matthews Band is Dave Matthews' "ridiculous singing".  They'd be awesome with a real vocalist.

I personally cannot stand them.  But they are LOADED with talent, including DMB's guitar playing.  Just not my cup o' tea.

I'd like them a lot more with a good singer (or no singer, for that matter). Futureman is the bomb.
