I suppose they were playing the 2nd half based on their belief that Washington couldn't score, but that "secure the lead" approach is a LOSING mentality long term. This would have been a great opportunity to let Allen start airing it out in the 2nd half. Horrifically predictable playcalling. Time to take the kid gloves off. He played well overall and should have been given more opportunities. Edited November 3, 2019 by LSHMEAB 1

He is a game manager without the turnover protection a game manager is supposed to offer. 1

As fans we just see the throws, but a young quarterback has a ton to learn (pre snap checks, etc.) When Big Ben came into the league he pretty much just handed the ball off his first season or two.
DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I'll go with a B- Josh was a game manager today and nothing more. No turnovers, but we were lucky the Redskins didn't recover either fumble.

Yup...it might seem harsh to some, but I am guarding against the lowered expectations from previous Bills QBs...I want our franchise QB to be great...therefore, he’s really gotta really earn a B+ grade from me. ?
HalftimeAdjustment Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I would go with a B. Evidence of some good decisions. Another fumble lowers the grade. The game plan, not Allen, gets my blame for the low total output.
Paulus Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) A. The commentors here are pretty delusional when it comes to football. I have accepted the fact. Josh had a few passes which should have been caught, and weren't. He did fumble, which is why it is not an A+. Bottom line, and like it or not, Josh was the best player on the team, today. Deal with it. Also, Foster needs to be cut. Edited November 4, 2019 by Paulus 1 1
hemma Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Good and getting better. Made a couple of very improbable escapes, though it is starting to feel 'normal'. 1
DuckyBoys Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Daboll's playcalling didnt exactly give him a lot of opportunities to shine. Like to see him wrap the ball with two hands like a rb when he's in traffic Defenders are really targeting that ball. Foster sucks. That is two games he made no adjustment on the ball in the air They arent always going to land in your arms in stride 60 yards downfield. The #1 need for next year is a big explosive wr.

This was not the right guy to mentor him. You can't blame it all on the OC... We can see just fine what we have in Josh.
billsfan1959 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 B+ / A- Kind of hard to fault Allen on much in this game. He threw the ball only 20 times and half of those were in obvious passing downs (as the game plan did not help him in any way). He did well overall: He completed 70% of his passes, accounted for two of the three TDs, and came through when they needed him to. The fumbles are becoming troubling and he has got to figure out a way to protect the ball better. Honestly, I thought Allen was successful inspite of the game plan. 2
Billsfan1972 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 A+++++. McD D, Daboll D.... Just watched the Seattle TB game..... That is fun football..... This 1960's football is doing Allen no good & still hard to say whether this is the QB of the future. Do people really want the 2018 Bears or 2016-2018 Jacksonville not knowing for way too long whether Trubinsky or Bortles are QB's to win games for them? 1

zow2 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Can our QB coach show Josh some Russell Wilson film?!? I mean that guy throws bombs with such a high arcing trajectory that the ball comes down like it’s dropped in the bucket so to speak. The DB has very little chance to knock it down. Allen should work on that. His deep throws are more of the frozen rope variety and they have to be perfect. Very little chance for our WRs to track and run under them. Wilson has the formula. 1
london_bills Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I thought the scramble and throw to brown was an example of development from Allen. Hadn't seen that before. Kept his eyes down field and I think he looked away and went there last minute with an accurate pass only the receiver could get. 1
78thealltimegreat Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 They seem to avoid throwing the deep ball anymore they just don’t seem to want to have John Brown do a streak 3-4 times a game just as throw away to air out Joshs arm then again that is so Bills to have a guy with the strongest arm in football and turn him into check down Charlie
wiseman3 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 These are the threads that make me crazy. Why on earth are we nit-picking every single throw of the day? People are really dropping him a whole "grade" for missing a single throw? News flash...no NFL qb is perfect. Allen played well. Move on. 8 1

I'm wondering if you watched the same game... Same knowitalls complaining about pounding the ball in at the 2 yard line are the ones complaining about Josh. The same ones who believed Demitrus Bell was a good LT. No, Josh put the points on the board and Singletary helped. Points win games, not stats.
