Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 If a PAT is blocked, the defense and soon to be recieving team should be given the option to take the ball at the point of recovery/end of return or receive the kickoff. Currently a blocked PAT can be returned for 2 points but there is no other reward. Let's say they recover the ball and tackled near mid-field. They can elect to take the ball there. Flame away 1
TroutDog Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 It would certainly keep games closer and higher scoring but I like the way the rule is now.
frostbitmic Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 There are too many rules now and the men in stripes can't handle it. 2
KD in CA Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 There is no law that says sports need to continuously change the rules, so let’s not. 2
HalftimeAdjustment Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 No. Teams that blocked a PAT would run it down to the 1 yard line and fall down, so that they had 1st and goal for a TD. The 2 point return would never happen except in 1 point games in the 4th. 1
suorangefan4 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) Why are people so obsessed with constantly changing the rules to a great game? Here let me come up with a stupid idea. If the team makes the XP. Make the team start behind the crossbar since that's where the ball was kicked. Edited November 3, 2019 by suorangefan4

Instead of field position, what about 1 point for the defense if they possess it at the end of the try and two if they run it in? 1 minute ago, suorangefan4 said: Why are people so obsessed with constantly changing the rules to a great game? The league changes rules annually anyway. As an official, I insist it is a business write off for the members of the rules committee. They meet, lodge, eat on someone else's coin. To justify it, they change a couple of things to prove it was all worth it.

Game flow and player attributes aren’t the same as they were when many of the rules were written. Rules should be constantly tweaked and changed and that’s why they are.
Paulus Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Instead on an onside kick attempt, the kicking team should be able to elect one midget to fight the other teams midget at the 50 yard line. Twist is, the recieving teams' midget gets a sword while the kicking teams' midget gets a pocket knife, to start off. 1

No not really and that's a really stupid change proposed.
Shortchaz Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Extra point. Missing it/having it blocked shouldn’t be debilitating.

row_33 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 if the D fumbles the return of the blocked PAT and the O recovers and gets into the EZ, does the O get 2 points?
