I googled around about Taylor a month ago. I found mostly positive scouting reports on him. The Miami media liked him as well. He could be a player if he puts it all together.

I believe when they brought up Peko it was because he was the 1 technique DT on the PS to replace Harrison Phillips.

 

Taylor has been more a 3 Technique to replace Jordan Phillips/EO. 
 

I think they saw Jordan play some 1 Technique last week and decided the combination of the 3 guys that can play 3T with some flexibility is better than Peko trying to anchor the line.

From what I've been seeing, when Lotulelei comes off and it's Phillips/Oliver/Peko at DT there isn't really another guy who can effectively play 1tech so I imagine Frazier is going to try to use Taylor in that position. They tried it with Peko and Phillips vs Miami and Eagles (they've actually been sliding Phillips in there since Harry went down, for some reason it wasn't until two weeks ago that teams figured out they were trying to hide a 3tech in the 1 spot and started punishing it) until it was clear neither can really play that spot, and it results in getting gashed in run when they can go 1v1 inside and get linemen on LBs immediately. If Taylor can anchor I imagine he starts getting 40% of defensive snaps immediately. If he can't I think they'll keep looking for someone else who can.
