Koko78 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 If you don't want to get blown out, get better. Maybe the losers should be given a participation trophy.
Azalin Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I think it's a stupid rule, but he should have tried to abide by it regardless. Stupid or not, rules are rules. Accept the consequences. Work within the system to change them if that's how you feel.

Chef Jim Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 (edited) If a team wins a game by more than 42 points, the winning coach must explain to a special committee why such an outsize margin could not be avoided. Investigation Committee: Why could such an outsize margin not be avoided? Coach: We are real ***** good and they really ***** suck and the game is four quarters. Can I go now? Doc Brown Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 It's a dumb rule. I like when coaches run up the score at the high school level so I know which one's are a-holes. 1
row_33 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 But the losing team was undefeated!! in case you still don’t see how this proves any point either...
DC Tom Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Shouldn't they just redistribute the points so it ends in a tie? 1

Rob's House Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I don't like implementing a rule about it, but running up the scoreboard like that on high school kids is kind of a dick move.
3rdnlng Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Once the results are apparent the coach should substitute 2nd and 3rd stringers in and of course eliminate gadget plays. The coach should never tell his players not to play hard. That's not only a good way to get his players injured but is actually a worse act of disrespect for the opponent.

Somehow keeping the beating to 41 or less in the spirit of fairness seems not at all arbitrary. 1 1

Uncle Joe Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Part of the Bill Belichick coaching tree I presume.
