We used to call this Cabbage Night.

Was a big thing when I was a kid (80s).  Eggs, toilet paper and watermelons.  Local markets wouldn't sell those things to kids without a note from parents (or not at all) on that night.

It's no longer a thing, thank God.

You and your gang should have been tossed into jail.  It is, after all, fair to persecute someone for something they did that was, at that time, expected.  If you have a shred of dignity you will turn yourself in to the authorities and profess your guilt.

For anybody in the Lovejoy area stay safe and have fun!

Feels like I saw a thousand plus children running around the streets

Gosh, I forgot about Begger's, or Devil's Night as it was known around Broadway Market. Two days of candy.

Late 60s in northeast Buffalo had Beggars’ Night the big event, only a few ‘double dippers’ showed up on the 31st.  Unheard of here in greater Fort Erie, strictly Oct. 31 for fun, frivolity, and hooligans.

How far can a kid run inside the Iron Triangle?
