Taylor will get his shot in time i feel. against what? context please! but yes i like this kid too He’s got a legit highlight video from his limited time at Miami. He’s was mentioned a few times for showcasing potential in a short amount of time. Hes gotta get the nod soon. https://youtu.be/JQ812iQyAUs Edited October 29, 2019 by CEN-CAL17

billsfan89 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Honestly activating Taylor and cutting Peko is the only move roster wise the Bills can make that would have some sort of impact. The trade deadline passed and there wasn't a trade to be had and there isn't a vet on the market that can help. I think the odds of Taylor being anything more than a marginal upgrade are slim but at this point Peko is not a starting caliber or even rotation player. Taylor has at least a chance to offer you some improvement at a weaker point of the roster. I also think that Taylor is a bit better than your average PS player. He played well in his time in Miami although both his first two seasons were cut short by injury. I don't see the harm in trying something with the DT position. 1 1

Taylor produced 12 run stops on just 89 run-defense snaps, resulting in a run-stop percentage of 13.5 percent, the best mark ever recorded by a defensive tackle. Who needs him? 1 hour ago, msw2112 said: If folks here were saying "he's not that great, but he's the best option that we have," I would understand it better. Agreed. That’s exactly what I’m saying. I’m not expecting some world beater. But they didn’t make a move at the deadline to address it, so he’s the best we’ve got left to try for a rotational DT in my opinion. He may also turn out to be nothing, but Peko ain’t it either. Cut him and put him back on PS if you have to have him around. 1

The Frankish Reich Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I trust he will get his chance, just like Jordan Phillips last year.
Don Otreply Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 To me, SM has been slow to use players that have reasonable odds of being useful on the 53, D Williams, and now this kid from Miami, why? I have no idea, maybe some of you can shed some light on this reluctance. Go Bills!!! 1
Florida Bills Fanatic Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 The coaches see all of these guys at practice in a competitive setting a lot more than any of us. We may not like the way Peko has played but I would venture a guess that Taylor hasn't shown enough in practice to jump ahead of Peko. That may change if the team continues to struggle against the run and Taylor gives some indication that he would improve the d-line rotation. As we fret about our run defense, we should also consider the amount of time the Bills spend in their nickel defense. The Eagles hit several nice runs against the Bills when they were in their nickel. I also thought the tackling was pretty terrible on Sunday and it wasn't just one guy.

McD has prioritized off-the-field matters when making roster decisions in the past, and the fact is that when they activated Peko, he talked about how gratifying it was to be able to call him up because of what his family had been through. I'm not just throwing stuff against the wall here. There is zero doubt in my mind that the effect on Peko's family immediately comes to mind when McD thinks about going in a different direction, and that means it is affecting the decision-making process. He is there because of his time in the system, time to change that. Wouldn't mind a bit seeing Taylor activated. But if he isn't, it's probably because while we don't see him practice, McDermott does and they don't think he'd be better than Peko. 1

I trust the Coaches see more than we do, I think ?
Thurman#1 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Yeah, and as Logic pointed out above, Taylor was playing 3-tech in Miami and Peko is a 1-tech. Maybe they don't want to switch him, or maybe they tried and he didn't do so well at the new role.
Sundancer Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 They see him in practice every day. If he was beating guys, he'd be playing. The entire league could sign him and he's unsigned. 1
Samwell Tarly Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 There are 2 distinct possibilities why this hasn't happened yet... 1. He's their secret weapon and they're saving him for the Superbowl. 2. He's not that good and won't crack the roster unless someone is injured. Time will tell....

He's 6'3", 311, and had a couple sacks last year for the Phins. There's a reason they took him, let's see what he can do. He might be an answer. Peko hasn't really been that effective. boom. Sold!

oldmanfan Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I am pretty sure of two things: 1. If they thought he'd be an upgrade, they'd have him on the active roster 2. Few if any of us here have seen the kid play, so it's puzzling why we think he'd be the guy The coaches said it's fundamentals and screw ups on that which caused the problems this past Sunday, and that they can address that this week. Let's hope they're right. 2
