boater Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Modern open air stadium, with some shelter, at the current Orchard Park site is option 1A. Realistic financially. True to roots. Option 1B is a dome at the current site in OP: acceptable. Is a stretch as to who is paying. A dome downtown = unacceptable. Unrealistic financially. Folly. 2

Mrbojanglezs Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I don't see the point in building a new stadium if it's not enclosed. I like the idea of a stadium with a lot of glass allowing natural light but indoors. 1
PromoTheRobot Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Here's an easy solution for those who prefer to watch football in the elements. The new Bills dome can have a porch where hardcore fans can watch the game outside in the rain or snow. 2
Doc Brown Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I've been pushing for a dome since the '07 Giants home game.

Or they could add a bubble at current stadium for the witches who will melt in rain and too cheap to buy club seats.

It's just the worst possible atmosphere and it totally kills the experience of a "day at the ball park." It's horrible! The NFL should have a rule that says "no domes allowed" and "must play on real grass." If that means in harsh climates the field is a dirt patch come December, so be it. Keep it real! the atmosphere for the Jays suffers when it’s closed but you are assured a game will be played and weather might be a factor for half the season in Toronto give and take
ALF Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Did the Bills ever take a survey of season ticket holders of the type of new stadium they want ? How much more in ticket prices they would be willing to pay for a indoor stadium ?

I always hear how the Super Bowl bills knew how to win in cold weather and they didn't care about how bad the weather was. I was pretty young when the bills were in the super bowls (just before my teenage years). I could be wrong, but I don't remember alot of bad weather games then. So, my question is, how many bad weather games did that bills team play in? Did they play in that many at home? I don't remember There were several! The most memorable was the first round game v.s. Miami in the XXV year. Snowing and sliding through it, went the Bills. There was the -30 AFC Championship game v.s. the Raiders. That team, of course, was composed of HOFers. This one is not! I’m not EVER attending a cold weather game again. That was so 1990s and I’ve earned my Cold Badge. While the outdoors was delightful, it’s an anachronism today. However! The Bills are neither from a large metropolis, nor composed of upper income fans and deep pocket corporations. Building a beautiful dome (e.g. Indy- which I’ve attended) doesn’t come gratis. Tix prices would a least double, if not treble. Be careful what you wish for!

I sit pretty high up and those flag poles along the rim of the stadium were shuddering. And I'm thinking 1) maybe flying all those flags in that wind is not the smartest idea, and 2) how long before one of those poles shakes loose and lands on someone? #lawsuits the flags are letting you know when to put your seatbelt on or GTHO of there

Didn't a dome team like the Colts almost beat us in a snow storm in 2017. It's 2019. NFL teams are not neutralized because it's chilly or snowing. 3-2 = winning record. Indy game, still a win. Both those would be different if the weather was better. The snow was what kept Indy from winning. So agree to disagree. ?
row_33 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 want the snow when the Bills are hosting the AFC title game again.... i did hear the announcers tell me the Eagles practised for the weather by going indoors during the week, then after the pause noted it was for the crowd noise. they didn't need to worry there.

Weather advantage = fake news.

row_33 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 come up to Toronto to play the home games starting a week before the first killer frost, if the weather is too much for y'all

What was the last serious weather game we had at home before this past weekend, was it that snow game vs Indy? Because in a dome we would have crushed them, and instead the weather evened up the game and almost killed our drought-breaking playoff appearance before it happened. Edit: I see that this discussion has happened since you posting this, and that I am behind. I'll still leave this here Edited October 30, 2019 by arcane
LeGOATski Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Retractable roof. It's the only answer. They should do something like Lucas Oil Stadium. Beautiful, practical, and not over-the-top with design or price.
