Mickey Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Yes, we are all emotional train wrecks, blindly following the irrational passions of our unruly hearts. Thank goodness we have the OP's superior objectivity, his sober grip on the realities of life and his calm and never erring guidance to help us separate fact from folly. I am truly grateful. 1
NewEra Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I watched the Grudens QB camp edition with Brett Favre yesterday. He answered every question with the same answer I envision Allen replying. “I did it because I can”. “Because I wanted to make every throw, ‘the best throw ever’.” He wanted to show off his talent. He threw lots of picks because of it and I could care less. I hope Josh Plays his career like Brett player his. There will be frustrating moments, but lots of amazing moments. Do you Josh Allen. Let it rip
billsbackto81 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I see him as an extension of my indigestion and blood pressure. 3

I think that is very doable for josh over his career if not better The problem with that particular comparison is "that was Then, this is Now". The NFL is more passer-friendly; DB can no longer mug WR in the air. Completion percentages are up and teams win on a pass-centric game. 21 minutes ago, NewEra said: I watched the Grudens QB camp edition with Brett Favre yesterday. Figster Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I see Allen as an extension of myself because my whole sports entertainment world / happiness is wrapped up in Josh Allens development and ability to lead the Bills to victory. Obviously I'm a huge homer that loves me some Josh Allen right about now.

After watching that show, I don’t think he ever reigned in those gunslinger instincts. his int% only went up as his career went on. He talked consistently about trying to “show” people what he could do, just because he could.

Except that Brett Favre only found success with his team, AFTER he reined in those gunslinger instincts and started trusting his coaches. Favre had two losing seasons his entire career, and one of them was his last year. He had success almost immediately, and was about as up and down as a quarterback could be his entire career. That said, he was a winner. A lot like Josh Allen in that respect. As an aside, Brett's 2006 season is almost exactly what Josh is on pace for this year.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 This may be a good thread to hang this on (may or may not involve paywall) https://buffalonews.com/2019/10/24/buffalo-bills-josh-allen-vic-carucci-nfl-football/ Key quotes: -Allen: "Yeah, I've thought that for a long time now where I've come to grips with, no matter what you do in life, somebody's going to be upset or concerned or whatever it is," Allen said as he and his teammates prepared to face the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. "And that's really the least of my problems. I care about what I'm doing for this football team, winning football games and just doing my job, what I'm asked to do." -Barkley: "Win a Superbowl..... I think that's the ultimate crowd-pleaser, right? ...we're not trying to appease the fan base. We're trying to get better as a team, win games. We're 5-1. That's really hard to do in this league." -Dorsey:" "I think, in terms of Josh and who he is, he's a confident guy and doesn't let that stuff bother him. But I think, at the end of the day, the most important thing to him is the team. The best part about Josh is he really doesn't care if he throws the ball 50 times or he throws the ball 20 times or he throws the ball five times. The most important thing to him is the team and whatever you can do to help the team." -Lee Smith:" "Whatever people out there potentially are desiring from Josh that he's not giving them, I sure hope he's not concerned with what people outside of this building think," tight end Lee Smith said. "Because all the people inside of it love the guy." Key point: "on passes of 19 yards or fewer, Allen is the highest-graded passer in the NFL at 87.1 (75 attempts minimum) with 109 completions in 139 throws for 1,045 yards and six touchdowns. Of his 20 incompletions, he has had 11 passes dropped and his adjusted completion percentage of 86.3 is the third highest in the NFL from that distance, per PFF. Conclusion: one of the bigger flaws in Allen's game as a rookie in 2018 – a reluctance, if not refusal, to throw shorter passes – has been fixed." I don't see Josh Allen at all as an extension of my own personality, neither the high nor the low. But I will say this: when evaluating the 2018 QB draft class, I think many of us under-rated the "It" factor, the charisma and leadership that lift a team and make them "willing to run through a brick wall for that guy". And it seems pretty clear at this point, Allen has it. 4
Rocket94 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I was in a Chicago mall recently and a father and son were next to me in line with a handful of sports cards. Josh Allen's card popped up and I heard the father say, theres Josh Allen. I almost found it my duty to ask them their opinion of Allen. They gave me a funny look and walked away! 2

Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Perhaps if the contributors had a Bill to liken themself to, as opposed to a specific Bill, namely Josh Allen, this thread might function better. Then again, after reading what I just typed, I have little hope for either option. ?

For the first time since Kelly I think we have a good quarterback, I didn't say great but he's better than anything we've had in long time. I think he can lead us to the playoffs, he needs to use his brains a bit more often tho. Sometimes he tries to do to much, and makes mistakes. But I think we'll be fine with him over the long run.
