There was a period 4 or 5 years ago when he was arguably the best all round dlineman in the NFL. He could do it all: set the edge, rush from the outside, penetrate from the interior or hold up as a 1 tech at the point of attack. You just lined him up at any spot on the line and he made plays. When he was that talented he was worth the additional effort to manage him and get him to buy in. But the skills are diminished and while he is still good enough to start in the NFL he is no longer the special guy you make exceptions for. 1
