Hapless Bills Fan Posted October 19, 2019 Posted October 19, 2019 This was probably posted during off season, but I can't find it. It's entertainment while we count down 24 hrs and 45 minutes to kickoff. I found it interesting for the tidbits of insight into the two QB's football characters though (at end). If you don't want to watch, I've summarized some of the funniest points. It's fairly hokie. The MC was pretty good. Lots of funny stuff I didn't summarize. OFF SEASON PREMATCH: Fitz vs Allen at Top Golf Charity Challenge Fitz video segment: Fitz: "I like to say I chose the only career where a Harvard degree hurt me" ...... MC: (deadpan) "I do see you have 16 children, that's awesome, incredible family" ...... MC: (on his second shot, first was a safe 8 points) "Ryan Fitzpatrick, that was a TERRIBLE shot" (Fitz immediately goes for a bigger club) Fitz: "All right, this is what happens when I play QB too. I start the game, OK, I'm going to play it safe, check it down a little bit, game goes well, I'll continue to do that. Game's not going so well, game plan, shanked one left" MC: "I mean, this is the first quarter though. You ended up getting points there, I think we might have abandoned the game plan a little bit quick" Fitz: "That's what happens during the game, too - WAIT he CAUGHT it?" [at the end, down 9, Fitz starts using a driver. Gets a do-over 'cuz the 10th ball hits the cart, and hits his best shot on #11 for 75 points to take the lead with 216 points] Josh Allen video segment: MC: "when you jumped over that guy from the Vikings, you were worried about the.... was there ever a thought a bout the...a...(gestures) Josh: "No, there probably should have been a thought, but I wasn't worried. I don't know why I did it, I just did it." MC: "Harrison Phillips said they had no idea you would be the dual threat QB you've become" Josh: (cutting him off humorously) "Me Either" (announcer starts laughing) MC: "6'6" QB from the University of Wyoming, this guy is gonna be a freak athlete, is what everybody was thinking" Josh: (deadpan): "Yeah, exactly" MC: "Have you ever stepped on the field with anybody, where you didn't have the strongest arm on the field?" Josh: (deadpan) "No." (hits a big 75 point shot with his first swing) Josh: "As long as I beat Harrison Phillips that's the only thing I really care about. I'm coming for Fitz." MC: "125 points after two balls, Fitz, I'm not sure you have a chance here" [at this point Josh is already ahead of Horrible Harry] Josh: "Oh no! Did I miss?" MC: "that amounts to ..nothing" (chit chat about how far Allen can throw a ball, and that he was a small guy and couldn't throw long until his Sr year of HS then at first he couldn't run after he got his growth spurt, his baseball teammates called him "Tortuga" or Tortise) [halfway through, Josh at 200 points] MC: "do you always play this slice like this?" Josh: "It's a blessing, and a curse. I can usually tell where it's going, but it's usually not going where I want it to go" MC: "well, you have put on an incredible performance, 200 points, halfway through" (Allen proceeds to shank a number of shots) (MC asks about Bills mafia and wings) Josh: "Love the wings. Gotta have blue cheese with it though. No ranch." [Josh has mastered Buffalo culture.] (with 2 shots left, banter about whether Josh should dink or dunk) MC: "C'mere Josh. You are six points behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. .... do you just pick up 7 points and get the win, or do you continue to show that you are an ALPHA? A FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK?" Josh: (sticks with the same club) "You know the saying, Momma ain't raise no.....you know. You know." MC: "I got it (covers his mouth "b***h, I believe is the....")" Josh: (crushes it, knows right away as soon as he swings, drops the stick) MC: "tenth ball goes for 50 points!" (Josh wins 260 points to 216) It's a bit silly to infer from a charity fluff event, but I thought, you know, it does reflect a bit of the two guys football character. Fitz starts out doing the prudent thing, then when the team gets behind tosses out the safe game plan and starts swinging wildly, wins at the 11th hour with the help of a bit of luck and a do-over. Allen's focus and athleticism let him go big at first, but he tends to lose focus in the middle. Then when he's only got a few shots left and he's still behind, he refocuses to leap ahead at the end. Fitz at this point is pretty well set in his ways. Hopefully Allen can learn to focus for 60 minutes and play football different than charity Top Golf. 2 1
