I forgot which rookie QB said it a few years ago....but basically said in college you’ll get about 5 different looks on defense.  In the NFL...it’s 20.  The playbook is 1/5 of the size. 

 

Miami would win by 40.

IMO if I'm setting the line Alabama v MIA it's going to start at MIA-60  and O/U 66.5

Except the Dolphins don't. They have at least a dozen starters who are barely NFL backup level talents. And there is a bottom feeder team or two in that situation every year. 

 

If you are only an NFL player by virtue of being in the NFL then sure.... the Dolphins have 100% NFL players. There are a dozen starters on that team who would not make another lineup and would struggle to make another roster.

 

Just like I said in this thread last year... Kelvin Benjamin wouldn't make another roster in the NFL. I was castigated at the time. And look now. Out of the league. Done. Not an NFL player. There are multiple Kelvin Benjamin cases on the Fins.

Where did you play D1?  And when?  Unless you played in the SEC recently, I suspect your college football experience is of limited value.  Teams like Alabama and Clemson are simply not in the same category as most other D1 teams.  

 

How many players on the Dolphins do you think will stick in the NFL for 5 plus years?  15? 20?  I'd bet Alabama has more right now and they definitely have more high-end (second round or better) talent than the Phins. 

 

I know they are somewhat biased, but ex-Tide players almost to a man say that Alabama could beat plenty of NFL teams.  They would know.

the problem is some posters are just assuming the Bama guys are automatically going to translate.  Like Trent Richardson. Rolando McCain. Andre Smith. Dee Milliner. Dre Kirkpatrick. Every one of their qbs.

They likely are. Sure. But talent and coaching are in 'Bama's favour over the Dolphins. It is not even indisputable in my mind. I can take the arguments about pace and complexity of the game. I can't take the talent argument because when you crunch the numbers it doesn't stand up to any scrutiny.

I played in the ACC as a backup and still scout

 

I have tons of experience around college football still to this day. Football is my life and job

 

And I'd assume the dolphins have close to 20 players with 5 years experience. Not gonna do the leg work cus it's tedious but I would expect it to be close

But Kelvin Benjamin was awesome in college so he is gonna to be awesome in the pros right!

 

again, There’s a better than average chance Fitz will have a better career than Tua.  There is a good chance some random receiver will have a better career than the Bama guys.  I loved OJ Howard but he isn’t exactly ripping up the nfl.  

 

You’re assuming a lot here my guy. Nick Saban couldn’t win in the pros so he had to go back to college.  It’s just a much harder league and you aren’t just stacking blue chippers.

Every time you argue you this, you’re saying there is not any difference in the complexity of the NFL game and college if these college players can immediately adjust to the NFL game.  You simply can not argue growing pains or rookie struggles.  They should immediately be great.

The Fins head coach won a SB last year.  In college, recruiting wins (though I agree Saban is a great college coach).  They switch OCs every year and win because they have more talent than every team in college besides Clemson and maybe Georgia.  And the far majority of those players will become nothing special in the nfl.  Much less playing against guys who are physically more mature by years.  

 

I just dont think you comprehend how big of a jump it is from college to the pros.

Coaching is definitely NOT in Alabama's favor. I mean come on bro Saban was a losing coach in the NFL with the Dolphins! It's different in the pros with salary cap.
