Not get get ahead of ourselves, but say the Bills finish with a better record than either #3 or #4 seed conference champs. Didn't the NFL once consider allowing a wild card team with a better record to host a game? Or did they table that idea?

No. Only division winners can host a playoff game except in the unlikely scenario that 5 and 6 end up at the Championship game where 5 will host... not sure if that’s ever happened...

Unfortunately no, in order to get a home wild card game in the playoffs you have to win your division. Even if that means one division winner is 8-8 and we go 11-5. It's really stupid but that's how it works

I think the bigger change that should be thought through is allowing the top 6 overall records to get into the playoffs, thus eliminating lemon division winners getting into the playoffs.

A division could have all teams winning home division games and losing all away division games (3-3) while another have 2 teams win all division games except 1 (5-1).  Which division is the lemon division?

KC is what the Colts used to be

Soft wimpy finesse team

Colts are now tough running team with a defense

NE is going 19-0

This is sickening

That's game folks!

Wow what a stinker next week on SNF

No if they want homefield in the WC round they need to win the division............which shouldn't be conceded by the fanbase..........the AFC is winnable.    It's all winnable.    But they gotta' find a way to score points along with the good defense.

Well, the 2007 NY Giants were 9-7.  Or are you referring to say, sub .500 records?  I'm leaning toward agreeing with you on this change, but doubt it would be implemented.

Sub .500, or really, just anyone who isn’t top in the conference.

Such a vile canard.

You DO realize that other than the Bills, who should have beaten NE, the combined record of the Cheatriots other opponents is 1-17, yes?

NE will lose to the Bills twice - in December and January.

I don't think the division is totally out of the question. The Pats offense was meh again yesterday at times. Their defense is outstanding though. You might be talking about the two best defenses in the NFL in the AFCE.

I agree. Brady's CLEARLY not what he once was.

That would be an awful move.

Pile up the wins and things will work out. I saw someone say that  they should change it to the top six teams. A 9-7 division winner might not get the hopeless Jets, and Fins four times. So the worse record really wouldn’t tell the whole story in some cases.

The system works, leave it alone. Keep winning, even the old man in the mountain couldn’t last forever, Brady’s end is coming.
